Okay I'm pulling a dilbert....which image should i click on?

This is only a guess, but if I happened to google the name Reff Fetrow or something similar and then click on images I might then click on the 2nd picture in the 1st row and scroll half way down. But that is just me, and just my guess. Got it? ;)

That is not true OCD fashion wear. I'm sorry, but if you were truly OCD, you would find those mop slippers. Nothing says OCD like moppin' while you're walkin'.

So I am just logging back on after a night of kind of sleeping, yet not really. Got ready for work, walked to my car and felt compelled to clean the bird turd off of it.

As far as the floor, I use a "disposable" mop, THEN wipe the floor extra clean with my disposable socks.

GOOD MORNING everyone!

My OCD shows up at the gas pump. The final number MUST be divisible by .25. I prefer whole dollar amounts but sometimes can't get to it. If it goes to .01, I up it to .25. I just can't do it!!!

Sigh. Me as well.

shello

Shello,

You are already a mom.

You just haven't been connected to a child yet.

Your heart and soul are a "mom." You understand the sacrifice it takes to raise a human infant....you "get" what it means to be responsible....you understand the ability to sacrifice yourself for another...

You are a mom Shello!

You are simply waiting for an infant.

In my line of work, I have seen so many people fail at raising a child (or children). It is painful to see "biological" parents, abandon their children. And it happens daily! I know for a fact, there are moms without children out there, who are better moms than woman who have children.

Shello, you are a "mom" because you have the spirit it takes to be a human being and show someone else what that entails.

In my mind, you are a great mom!

Thanks so much for this. What a nice thing to say. Well, I had the best mom possible so I was ingrained with some mighty fine skills. Sadly my child, make that children as I think we'll go for one now and one in a couple of years, will never meet my mom but they'll know all about her.

Jake, I too can tell that you are a great parent. One thing about this board is that there are some great parents who live up to and exceed the role of what a parent should be. We see it everyday! Again, thanks Jake!

Lurker with 2 previous posts. Found site after I quit listening 2 or 3 years ago because LBM voices grated my last nerve to shreds. When a coworker wanted to know about Neff and Jina's divorce, I Googled them and found the site. It is extremely entertaining and dramatic. I read here daily and laugh my hiney off.

May I have a number please Trixie? Thanks! :)

Can I be added to the good parent list?
Please?
But oh wait, I forgot to make sure my younger one had a warm jacket on yesterday.

LisaP, thanks for the shout-out, and I hope everything gets better soon. (((hugs)))

Shello and GaryBear, hope you get the family you want soon. We have also been trying for a long time--this one will be four years younger than my first, and we have been trying most of that time. Twice unsuccessfully.

SDGirl87, you will be a great mom even if you do have to do it alone. Parents are always first and foremost, not the childcare workers or teachers. If you end up raising a child yourself, you will not be doing them a disservice. You will still be the mom!

Good Morning IFs and IFNMs!

Just got caught up.

OCD:
OCD number one is that I CANNOT reply on this thread until I've read EVERY PRIOR post. I had so many things to respond to, and I couldn't, because I had to get to the end. Another OCD is that I count. I count steps, stairs, telephone rings. It's sick.

On the subject of cleaning, I need someone to come to my house twice a month and do deep down cleaning. Any takers? I've got a full house and I would love it to be spotless, but I can barely keep up with the basic sweeping and spot cleaning. Not after a 12 hour day, then dinner, showers, "quality time", etc!

As to Gidget's post. What exactly do Rick and Jen have to fear? I too like them both. I listen every night and I ALWAYS play "Who's your daddy?" They are both natural and clever and easy to listen to. In fact, I'd like them to sign up here and jump in, if they stayed anonymous I think they'd fit in just fine. (Hmmm...maybe they're already here?:spock:)

I think Tommy doesn't like this thread because he is an alleged big fat hypocrite. He allegedly doesn't drink, or use. He allegedly makes a good mate. He allegedly has self control. But he allegedly knows that we are all allegedly on to something.

Welcome back Wonk.

Congrats Elizabeth.

Welcome lurkers.

As a single woman, it would be irresponsible and selfish of me to foster or adopt a child because I wouldn't be raising them...the child care workers would, while I work to keep a roof over our heads. Single parenting is extremely tough for those who find themselves there unplanned. I can't imagine how selfish it would be for me to intentionally place myself into that situation, or how thoughtless it would be for my child. Because of that, and that is the SOLE reason, I choose to not start down the road of fostering or adopting, though it's so very hard not to.

Just to chime in, in my eyes, I think you would be a wonderful mother. Maybe I have a skewed view of this, but I really dont see it as selfish of you to foster or adopt a child. Yes, you would be gone during the day, but just think about what a better position those children would be in. They would be loved, taken care of, happy and healthy. Of course everyones views on this differ but taking a child out of a poor enviorment and placing them in a loving comfortable home with someone that loves them more than anything, I just can't see that as a bad thing. If my husband and I were to adopt that would be one thing (young, married, making basically nothing). If a single woman in a well established position chooses to do adopt or foster then I dont see that as selfish.

Oh, and can the OCD gang come to my house. WE NEED HELP BADLY!

The sequence you want is not, "Why are you behaving this way?"

It's:

1. "What are you doing?"

2. "What are the rules when we are in public?" (Of course, this means you must establish clear expectations and consequences when out in public).

This is a situation about "manners." And "manners" are NOT about how your kid behaves -- they are about your child's awareness of "others."

"You, my child, may NOT violate the rights of others!!!"

3. "What are the consequences when you break the rules?" (This means we have conversations with our kids BEFORE they break our rules.)

4. "Is this what you want to happen to you?"

The key is to be calm, curious, and respectful.

You can always "win" any fight with a child.....but your goal is to "grow" a child -- not to "defeat" a child.

I havae to read everything, too, Layla...that's how I got yelled at for not being better at mentioning who said what, I think.

And I still do that, then I can't remember who asked or said something, but I MAY have copied and pasted what they said on an open word doc...but probably forgot to include their screen name, and don't want to have to go back and find out then forget what I wanted to say.

Anyhoo. recently, someone asked how a person allegedly could determine if an alleged allegedly person were reading here.

One thing, when you get to the main GotApex page, waaaay down at t he bottom, there is a listing of who is active on the board...here's a listing I copied from a minute or so ago:

Wabbitsd, 1boogie, blondmom, boris85, Catwoman7042, clhocker, ex-starlistener, garybear, hoss, iamapes, JDub04, jennerbenz, mnguy, MomCat, OneKidOneDogMom, packerfan, pax, Radio Head, Rejoice, SDGirl87, sdwaverider, SISSY, skibun21, snoopiebug, stampinstac, stellargirl, WingMan.

Now, if you put your cursor over one of the names, and click, you will call up their profile, and one of the things it tells you is where they are viewing at that given time.

Allegedly, a local PPattorney who wanted to allegedly possibly gain some new alleged clients, signed up, gave out his personal website, and all it's accompanying wide world of info about himself...and so the story goes. "This is a story...about a PP Laywer.... and that's how we became the relocated DRAMA CLUB! THE DRAMA CLUB! That's how we became the relocated DRAMA Club."

Along with OCD, I have a two second attention span, or I would hunker down and write a song, but alas, hey, look, there's a whole bunch of people going for coffee, see you later!

Freedom of speech does not apply to a privately owned forum - that's why there are moderators here.

These new rules are set by the owners of the board, not by any external entity. All you have to do is follow the rules if you want to post here - it's that simple.

Just like at the airport - you can refuse to go through the metal detector if you don't want to, but then they they're not going to let you in.

PM me or e-mail me if you want to discuss this privately (just click on Got Apex Moderator at left for contact options), but the rules are NOT up for public debate.

if you googled my name, you would not find a thing. i value my privacy and do not put personal information out to the internet, i think that if you throw it out there yourself (via blog or public persona) that you have given up your rights to privacy. if you post a blog (that is not private) and allow anyone with a keyboard and your name to view it....you have absolutely NO right complain or restrict others ability to discuss openly. if you choose to make yourself public...that is the price you pay.

if you are concerned about your privacy, don't have a blog with photos of your children.

what idiots (allegedly)

I think the problem that hypothetical group of [alleged] pathetic losers have had with the thread is not that their [alleged] personal information was [allegedly] being published on the internet. They, in their [alleged] infinite big-deal wisdom, believe they're above the consequences of putting their personal life out there for all to see. (Case in point, they [allegedly] claim to be good parents, yet they publish their kids' schedules and whereabouts ... stupid? Pathetic? Idiotic? YES!)

I believe their real problem was that a group of people (allegedly us) posted salient, razor-sharp, witty, intelligent responses, reactions, thoughts in response to their dribble, which pointed out to even the dullest of the dull what [alleged] idiots they are. The truth hurts. Denial is the easier, softer way. So they hire rent-a-cop Carl Jr. to make the mean people stop calling them names.

Unfortunately for them, you can run, but everytime you look in the mirror, you're faced with an idiot. No real legal action to eliminate that, is there, Tubby-Tummy and Horse-Face?

Freedom of speech does not apply to a privately owned forum - that's why there are moderators here.

These new rules are set by the owners of the board, not by any external entity. All you have to do is follow the rules if you want to post here - it's that simple.

Just like at the airport - you can refuse to go through the metal detector if you don't want to, but then they they're not going to let you in.

PM me or e-mail me if you want to discuss this privately (just click on Got Apex Moderator at left for contact options), but the rules are NOT up for public debate.

ElizabethAZ, I thought our first children were similar in age. I think I spoke to you in a chat awhile ago about potty training and such. I am in the same boat, my son will be just shy of turning four when this baby arrives. We have been trying for 15 months, despite our son being a wedding night baby! I am due at the end of August, so we are very close in our pregnancies. Good luck for a happy and healthy pregnancy! I hoping preeclampsia stays away this time and I make it further than 31 weeks....not too much to ask for, or is it?

What wonderful words you write Jake. Good luck to all of those wonderful people who are mothers without children. I have a friend who has gone through such pain to have a child and after 6 years she is finally adopting a baby on January 23rd. She never thought she would become a mother, but somehow it all worked out. Your time will come too!

Here's iamsheens' recipe for the potato soup:

4 large baking potatoes
2/3 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup flour
6 cups milk
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp white pepper
4 green onions -- chopped and divided
12 slices bacon -- cooked and crumbled
1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese -- shredded and divided
8 ounces sour cream

Wash, dry and prick potatoes with fork. Bake in 400°F oven for 1 hour or until done. Let cool. Cut into half lengthwise and scoop out pulp; set aside. Use skins for something else, such as stuffed potato skins. Melt butter in heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Add potato pulp, salt, pepper, 2 Tbs. green onion, half the bacon and 1 cup cheese. Cook until thoroughly heated. Stir in sour cream. Add extra milk if necessary for desired consistency. Serve with remaining green onions, bacon and cheese.

I love my "lived in space", I mean who has the time and patience to constantly clean and organize when this here site can keep us so entertained and moves at a speed faster than light. Having said that, I do tend to make people crazy when I go places. I have to have the entire route mapped out in my head and never go anywhere that would cause me to backtrack.

I don't think it's that odd to keep the door cracked when you go to the bathroom. Trust me, when my 8 y/o grandson is staying, I want to be able to hear if he's getting in trouble. He also knows not to come in and what the word privacy means.

Hi JDub, you are right, we do have kids the same age and now we are doing it again! Yay! Are you hoping for a girl? I'm actually wishing for a boy, partly because I have just the sweetest boy ever, and because I think if we have a girl then Mr. Elizabeth will say one of each, we are done. But if we have a boy, maybe I can convince him to go for #3.

My boy insists he is having a sister and a brother, but yesterday's us ruled that out. What does your little one think?

BTW, I am happy to say he is now officially pt! Yay! HH9M to you!

!

I have to read it all too. I'm the same with books, magazines...I have to finish one before I start another and if they are magazines I have to read them in order. This is why I don't read the newspaper (I would never get out of the house.)

I'm not offended by all the OCD jokes, but I do have a family member who has OCD and its no joke. I know there are different degrees, but when it is severe it affects the person's entire life, job, family, education.

Hi Shello. Your post touched me. I am very much in the same boat. I'm 38 and single. My deepest and most intimate longing for my entire life has been to be a Mom. I started babysitting at 9, and have never stopped being around kids. I taught preschool for years, taught parenting classes, majored in child development in college and teach youth at my church. I, like you, am a mother through and through, though I haven't given birth.

So I wait. I hope and pray for a husband, and then eventually a family. Having a nephew is fabulous, and borrowing friend's kids is fun, but it is nowhere near close enough. I have such deep respect for you and wish you all of the blessings and joy in the world!!

Keep us posted, ok? I'm very excited for you!!!

Oh, SD Girl, I gotta pm you...saying too much here might jeopardize my alleged anonymity...

AND I bring lysol wipes to wipe everything down. Including the bathtub. Did you know that don't even use real disinfectants in those? A hotel maid told me that.

if you googled my name, you would not find a thing. i value my privacy and do not put personal information out to the internet, i think that if you throw it out there yourself (via blog or public persona) that you have given up your rights to privacy. if you post a blog (that is not private) and allow anyone with a keyboard and your name to view it....you have absolutely NO right complain or restrict others ability to discuss openly. if you choose to make yourself public...that is the price you pay.

if you are concerned about your privacy, don't have a blog with photos of your children.

what idiots (allegedly)

If you googled my name, you'd find a semi-well known southwestern artist - but it would not be me!

Google my maiden name, and you'd get the daughter of a well known (or he used to be) actor. Also not me!

Upon reading some of my previous posts, I feel I need to tell you all that I am really not as insane as I sound. Really.
And I do actually function on a daily basis without twitching.

Well I do twitch if I accidentally turn on my radio at work instead of my Ipod and accidentally hear alleged radio personalities voices who truly annoy me. Not even allegedly.

I saw one once when they 'scanned' a bedspread in a hotel room with those ultraviolet lights, like on CSI.

The bodily fluids, of all types you can possibly imagine, they found would gross you out.

Never flop down on the bedspread when you get in a hotel room.
Those things, apparently, should all be burned.

I agree MNGuy. I immediately fling the bedspread off the bed and into a recessed corner as soon as we get into a hotel room. Those germs ain't gonna get me!!!

I am hoping for a boy again, because it would be easier since we have all the stuff and I am more of tomboy (two older brothers). I don't think it would be fair to a little girl to have me as her mother, since I am anti-pink, princesses, fairies and into sports, love the outdoors and wearing tennis shoes when I dress up. Although I do love my pedicures! My son doesn't know that he is having a sibling. We go for our first u/s today and we are keeping it a secret until 12 weeks. We have only told our parents and two close friends (and of course my invisible DC friends). We have had several friends who lost babies through 20 weeks, so I am a little apprehensive, and because I have 40% chance of developing pre-e again. I will be thrilled when March gets here! We are having another surprise baby, so we won't actually know the gender until August. We have 10 nephews and 2 nieces (ages 17 and 13, respectively), so a girl would be a nice addition to our families....but again, I want to take the easy way out and have our boys share a room, clothes, toys, etc. I am having a c-section again (not my choice), and will be tying things up, so we will be done with two. I am older and having more than two kids on teacher's salaries in San Diego isn't really feasible. I think I am rambling here....side effect to being pregnant!

Good luck. I look forward to checking in with you to see how things are going with you.

OK,on the matter of OCD's mine are, I have never ever gone without shoes in my house, except when I sleep. I'm a renter and I can't stand to think that my bare feet would walk on the same floor as others! For the shower, I have shower shoes as I would NEVER let my bare feet touch the shower floor. If I did, then I would have to either hire a hit man to kill me or have my feet amputated! Now that I tell this next one, I'm not going to be able to stop until I go to sleep and that's drawing stupid hopskotches in my head. Dang it drives me crazy, but I'm not crazy. At least I don't think I am wait, I'll have to ask myself after I draw my hopskotches! If I am crazy though, it's because my grandchildren, the 4 that I watch 7 days a week, have personally driven me there. My children were well behaved, they said I just gave them the evil eye(doesn't work on the grandkids) asnd they knew they better behave. None of them ever got in trouble as teenagers. They said they weren't afraid of the pricipal or the police, but didn't want to face me. I think that my grandchildren were Students of the Year at Lucifer's Devilishly Devious School of Behavior. In fact they were Valedictorians! I love 'em anyway.

Tomorrow can we use the word FARCE as the word of the day?

Right now I am confused with all the uses of the word alleged. Ya see, I went to journalism school and that is a very important word when it comes to writing news stories so I seem to be tripping over sentences a lot.

And I know that you are wondering why, with a degree in Journalism, I am not a better writer on this board. All I can say is that I don't have an editor looking at my work. :)

Also, a shout out to my Santee cohorts (No more anti-Santee comments from you WabbitSD! Hahaha - we outnumber you). Living in East County gives us plenty of time to listen to the radio on the way to work, so we kinda become experts on the local on-air talent.

I read LBM's discussion of the spy car as she might be in there putting on makeup, or whatever...allegedly, because I don't want to consider the alternative, or more likely,

I'm not sure bathroom doors ever get closed at my house, and even then, if you don't be careful to turn the handle just so, it can be pushed open easily.

It's an all-chick household, including the dog and two cats. There have been many times where all house residents are all in the bathroom (floor space is 2 1/2 ft wide (excluding sink/counter and tub). For some reason, especially when my daughter was younger, if Mom was in the bathroom, EVERYONE was in the bathroom.

At least now, the basset hound seems to like sitting in the bathtub, so it isn't quite so crowded...thanks, though, but I'll pass on the spycam car...wait...if it were mine, it could be fun....where did she say she got that?

If you do edit posts before reposting the forum, please DO NOT remove the numerous posts written by us when we were appalled at some radio personality's seeming disregard for disclosing information which could potentially endanger their children. I remember personally requesting that anyone who could speak to people (in a certain neighborhood with skateboard ramps) to attempt to warn them that their street was being given unwanted attention in the personality's public blog. We located it easily using info in said blog, implying that dangerous people could too.

If a small percentage of our thousands of posts crossed a line and pointed out easily found public internet info, it doesn't negate the many posts where we expressed concern for the dangers we feared.

"Doing your job." I'm glad you are convinced of that. Atty. jokes? you betcha. You deserve em by the boatload.

There is an alleged person allegedly using the name Carl the PPAtty or something like that on the other ship. It is NOT, I repeat NOT our PPCarl. It is someone "borrowing" the name :)

could someone please PM me with the yuku website - I had it earlier, didn't bookmark it, and I'm having a blond moment.

Thanks. Mazeltov.

13, I am so lonely and confused! I have faithfully read every single post (no skimming even!) and I don't remember anything being posted about a yuku website. I'm trying to find out where the party is! Can anyone....anyone.....send me a lifeline to the other ship??? Or am I all alone and talking to myself? Hello? Is that an echo???

Well, I am always confused and Where the Kegger is tonight is just the latest point of confusion for me. (Loosely translated to mean...Where are we posting? Here, there..or everywhere!")

Shello, are you from the desert? I heard the kegger's at Cherry Hill ... or, wait, the crater ... or, wait, it's at the Pinnacles! That's where the kegger's at! The Pinnacles!

See ya there!

(Wow, that took me back to high school! Thanks!)

Will you be joining us at our new forum Jake?

Thinking of retirement.

Getting weary....J & J are simply too much to endure. They suck beyond belief...and no one seems to care....morons like these should NOT be worth millions per year.

Jake is moving on.....................

Alledgedly, yes.

PS...if you were to hypotically Google the name of the alleged lawyer at that link and add the word yahoo to it, then his blog bight hypothetically come up in the alleged results

And if you select the cache result, you can time travel back to when those posts and blogs have links. Allegedly.

DCM #152 checking in (allegedly). This thread never fails to make me laugh. You are a witty group! Back to lurking...

Copy that. 10-4.

I have more pages in my future, and potential (what is that word?) neffing(?) - when your posts follow your posts?

I'll clock out when I finally "catsup" or do you prefer "ketchup"?.

I first deal with my Real Life, and then deal with the Great Deals in my After Life. Welcome to my After Life.

Kid 16A is asleep. Husband (16H? maybe?). Cat (16Feline) is on the couch. Laundry is being tumbled dry. Wine glass empty. Must 'page back' to return to my spot.

Any bets on how many minutes (hours?) before I return?

Can I get a "Hi!"?
