This turns out being a NSS for me personally but not for the other 20 cars I witnessed getting tickets.

I went to lunch at a small plaza near the 405 and 55 in Santa Ana, forgot the name off the top of my head, anyway it requires a left turn into the plaza, and one would think the first left is allowed, however I found out this is not the case. The first left is DO NOT ENTER, but the sign isn't very visible, and driving into the lot seems logical, anyway i noticed 3 or 4 cars lined up and talking to a police officer, figured he was directing traffic and i waited in the non turn lane to turn, he starts waving vehicles forward but they arent going to any of the parking spots.

I got frustrated of waiting, and drove to the second left entrance, the legal entrance, then it dawned on me, the cop was ticketing everyone who made that turn for the sign i hardly saw because of the cars lined up. So I sat down and had lunch, and watched the cop wave more cars into ticket land, and it appeared no excuse was good enough... when people wisened up and traffic lessened, the cop got out a tape measure and walked around the lot and cited a few trucks for being too tall I can only assume.

I asked about it at work, and supposedly, this motor bike cop does this daily, and there rarely are repeat offenders, so this is obviously a problem with the singage and with a dick head cop waving in the tickets.

Back in 2001 in Massachusetts our family was taking a mini road trip back down to NYC when we saw a state trooper standing in the middle of a two-lane highway waving down car speeding at 70~80 mph. It was one hell of sight. That cop was stupid or had some brass ones.

I would hope that each and every person who gets a ticket takes it to court. Frankly, they need to get a picture of this guy doing this and show the fact that you cannot see the signage properly. I am sure once a bunch of the tickets get tossed he will be called in for a little pow-wow.

As for the trucks being too tall.....is this really what you think he was doing? I just checked the DMV and here are the restrictions:

24008.5. (a) No person shall operate any motor vehicle with a frame height or body floor height greater than specified in subdivisions (b) and (c).

(b) The maximum frame height is as follows:

Vehicle Type Frame Height
(1) Passenger vehicles, except housecars
23 inches

(2) All other motor vehicles, including housecars, as follows:

Up to 4,500 pounds GVWR
27 inches

4,501 to 7,500 pounds GVWR
30 inches

7,501 to 10,000 pounds GVWR
31 inches

Looks like my truck weighs in around 6650lbs...so that would make my limit be 30 inches between the ground and the bottom of my frame.

That guy has WAY too much time on his hand..although frankly 2.5 ft (30") seems awfully low to me. Maybe I am thinking wrong.

Wow. I feel sorry for all those trucks I see that have the 30" wanna-be mudboggers and additional 10-12" lift (usually a Chevy Silverado)

I think he does it to meet (and exceed) his ticket quota.
