PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- A man who got angry with his wife because she wanted to cuddle after sex when what he really wanted to do was watch sports on television was sentenced to death for killing her with a claw hammer.

Christopher Offord, 30, was sentenced Wednesday by Circuit Judge Dedee Costello, who said the brutality of the crime outweighed any mental problems Offord may have had.

"The defendant struck his wife approximately 70 individual blows after spending a happy interlude with her," the judge said. "Her desire to cuddle after sex does not justify the extremely violent, brutal response of the defendant."

Offord pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2004 slaying of Dana Noser, 40, at his apartment.

He confessed to a bartender at a sports bar before his arrest. He told investigators that his wife had been nagging him to come back to bed.

Offord did not speak in court but said in a jailhouse interview in June: "I figured I killed her so I deserve to die."
Um, yeah. That seems like a fairly extreme reaction.

And she is never more unappealing as she is about 5 seconds after you "blast off." Its uncanny, and really weird once you become concious of it. While this guy's reaction was extreme to say the least, and indicative of some serious emotional problems (which pale in comparison to the problems he now faces), I can see where the basis for that emotional upheaval stemmed from. How it got out of hand though is entirely up to speculation.

If you stick around too long you'll be suckered into taking care of this one woman and her baby when you could be out making more babies. The woman, however, wants to be "protected" (obviously and old concept, so I'll explain: prehistorically, men were more likely to be able to protect the family from danger), so she tries to keep the guy around.

Although women can now protect themselves, many still like to keep a guy around for fun!

While I don't think you're alone I do think that some men find women highly attractive after she has been sufficiently pleased.

At least that's been the consensus from the men I've been with.

And as for how men look after... well, I'm NOT a cuddler, but I’ve got to say, men, after I've done a good job, look positively angelic, for like the 10 seconds which I'm awake to see them, because after those 10 seconds I’m dead asleep. (If they have done well).

I think its purely internal chemistry. All those endorphins kick in when you're about to engage in sex, and you become completely amorous and "feeling good". When you finish, your brain gets flooded with dopamine, causing you to feel totally contented. When a person is in a mentally contented state, the need for further stimulation and pursuit of pleasure is eliminated, so many people will naturally close off from others just because the need is no longer there.

A lot of drugs work in similar manner. Its why when someone shoots heroin, they can spend 12 hours lying back and staring at the tip of their shoe and never get bored. It totally overloads their brains with dopamine and all feelings of need and desire are wiped out. Boredom is really just a result of need. No sense of need = no reason to act = a junkie who doesn't feel the need to eat, or sleep right, or take care of themselves, or do anything; in the case of the original discussion, no sense of need = a suddenly distant and unresponsive lover after the act.

one thing i'll mention, tho, is that the post-coital male reaction seems typically to be more than a simple lack of need or desire and often goes beyond being distant and unresponsive; it seems more extreme than that, along the lines of repulsion. maybe i'm wrong tho...
They're really one and the same. You become disengaged momentarily, and the result is that human contact and interaction is more an annoyance, a burden, rather than a source of any pleasure or benefit. Now the strength of that reaction probably varies depending on the person.
