I just wanted to thank everyone that helped me raise funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation ride I did last week. Most of my funds came from Apexers!
I rode all 300 miles and suffered for just about every one of them. I got to meet the girl my team rode for and am looking forward to doing it again next year.
At the expense of my image here, I put some pictures up for you guys...
We rode from Cheybogan to Ypsilanti. It's amazing looking at a map that we were able to do so. We also rode through the nice little towns of Saginaw and Flint. For those of you not familiar with either town, let's just say I was happy to get out of those cities having only been pegged once with a cup holder and threatened/yelled at a dozen times or so.

We started off up near the Mackinac Bridge. This picture was taken the evening before the ride overlooking Lake Huron.

Here's a couple pics of my and my baby, errr...bike. You can tell they were taken at the beginning because I don't have the death stare going on.

We stayed at a small school the first night. There were approx 560 riders and 75 volunteers. Most of us stayed in the school, finding a place wherever we could.

Every 12-20 miles there was a SAG stop. Here's what most of them looked like. Just a tent with a bunch of fruit and snacks to keep you going. Most of them had a massage team as well to loosen up cramping muscles.

I stayed in the gym on the second night. You'd be amazed at how easy it is to sleep with 100 other people when you've just ridden 100 miles.

This is the Eaton team I rode with. There were about 25 Eaton riders and a few other supporting folks. My company donated a tremendous amount of cash, labor, and support vehicles.

Here's Austin and Carter waiting for me to arrive.

i'd better temper my remarks because my mom has the link to this page so....let's just say they, along with benton harbor, are the kind of place you'd pick for a vacation spot. ;)

they're crapholes!!! cities that once flourished when GM produced most of their product domestically and now pretty much are dead. i think one of the two cities were featured in one of Roger Moore's documentaries.

Bah, you should see how old I look. Between my wife and my son, the hair that isn't falling right out of my scalp is turning gray. Lean over a bit closer and I'll whack you upside the head with my cane.
Then again, even a 1 mile bike ride would just about put me in a retirement home. :2far:
Awesome job, Cheapie!

Way to go Cheapie. What a wonderful cause to ride and raise money for.
If I may ask, what type of training did you do to get ready for it and what was your before training and after training weight? I ask because I recently had a Homer Simpson moment (stepped on the scale and said, "Oh, 239 pounds. What a whale!"), softball is right around the corner and late January is fantasy camp.
Accordingly, I've started riding and running again. Thanks!

I'll tell my Mom you don't think she's hot.
cheapie is pretty cool, even if he won't send me a pic of his kids for my fridge. His sense of humor needs some work, though (it's too close to mine).

lol. forgot about the pic. sorry.
i just worked out almost every day for about 6 weeks. i dropped a little over 12 pounds and it made a huge difference.
i gained 2 pounds during the ride. i'm assuming that it was water weight since i didn't really eat all that much during the ride. just enough to maintain my energy.
