Yeah, I heard eSD is a great guy, but he doesn't like the cack.

On a serious note:
I've honestly never looked in San Diego. I have nothing against it, I've just never had to expand my search that far.

I can be there in 5 hours though :)
(Sorry, it's rush hour)

Now the question is.... why were you fired?
About 2 weeks ago, my boss e-mailed everyone, asking that they change their windows password to their user number (which anyone can look up via AS/400). We were then supposed to e-mail him back to let him know. I didn't change it, and I didn't e-mail him, because honesty I forgot. That monday (8/1) I get another e-mail reminding me of the first e-mail. I ignored it, because I had sent an e-mail to the V.P. telling him about how easily this can be exploited, how it was bad for security, etc. The VP tells me he will talk to my boss' boss. I hear nothing. Tuesday, my boss sends me a third e-mail, asking me to change it. I respond back with about a half a page of reasons NO ONE should give ANYONE their password. (BTW - the reason they want the password is to log on to our computers if we aren't going to be in and set an away message in outlook, and oh yeah, make sure we aren't doing anything we aren't supposed to [a whole 'nother set of e-mails]) I don't hear anything else about it, until today.

So I was fired for not giving my password, and this is an actual quote, "among other things." I had been written up in March for insubordination and was on a 6 month review, which would have been up in September. I was written up because my boss told me he was doubling my workload, even though we had so much work we couldn't finish what we already had. (I, formerly, created subpoenas. They signed up 3 large law firms for use of the repository [place orders, check status of their orders, ask questions, etc.] and none of them wanted to actually put their orders on, they just wanted to check status, so I would have to go in, read their fax then put everything on the repository it could easily take 1 hour just to do the repository aspect)

Anyways, I hadn't actually gotten any requests for the firms in question, but I had gotten "the warning e-mail" (i.e. salesperson telling us about the firms and what they required). So it's mid-terms, I'm stressed and this puts me over. I repeatedly tell my boss "No" in front of the rest of my team members. He writes me up. I write up a retort letter. He doesn't like my attitude in the retort letter, gives it to H.R. who has to speak with me immediately (Choice selections from the retort letter: "While committing forgery may be acceptable to some employees and managers, I place my ethics and morals on a much higher level than that." & "Is a “descreet” manner the humiliating process of calling out the name of a team member, as if they were a child, and telling said team member to go to the General Manager’s office? I could have sworn we were all adults and not egotistical, haughty, want-a-be-substitute parents. The Team and I do not exist to appease the whims of an ego-centric, heavy handed, arrogant despot.") With H.R. and him sitting there I say he is a horrible manager, he has no people skills, I have no respect for him or his job because he doesn't deserve it, as there are better people in the company who could do the job. I railed on him (in a professional manner :D)

From that point on, he would rarely, if ever talk to me. So that's the short of it.

Wow....

When you go out... you go out in a blaze of glory... :woo:

Too bad "The Man" and "Upper MANagement" never listen to the common sense that comes from below. Of course, their word is "law"... and even if they are wrong...they are always right and such.

Just sucks to be a cog in the system. I feel your pain. Good luck on finding a new gig... sounds to me like the place you were at was a certifiable sh@thole to say the least. (/me puts back on my wading boots... to head back to my own personal sh@thole myself...)

OK, obviously you were working for a group of idiots if they can't figure out how to do this without your password. Sounds like you'll be better off without them.

Good luck in your search!!

If they try to deny your claim they have to prove you did something wrong. Then you get to rip them apart.

Hold on....I just got a transcript of the real firing conversation:

Nija's Boss: "Now Nija we both know why I fired you....you kept using KY when I was trying to stick it to you. You do realize that you are not supposed to get pleasure out of the situation when "the man" tries to stick it to you!"

Nija : "You Moron! I told you repeatedly that the system works better when its well lubricated. I am not going to let you stick it to me when all I am trying to do is make the company work better!"

Nijas Boss: "But I want to stick it to you.......without KY!"

Nija: "Umm, you do realize thats only a saying right! Stay the hell away from me!"

Nijas Boss: "Well if I cant have you no one will! You're Still Fired!"

Nija: "#$%^#!@#$&(%)&#_)(& Mother#$%%*)_@%&)&%

So as you can see, Nija was just trying to save his arse.

I prepared subpoenas for attorney's. They would submit a form with a bunch of information (most of which was locations where a patient had been treated or worked) and I would get an address, phone number, custodian of records, etc. That's was the jist of my job.

I live in Torrance. I don't really mind commuting, within reason. I think my limits are: southern limit is Seal Beach, northern Limit is probably Sherman Oaks, eastern is probably La Habra (My g/f has an hour commute and she works @ the 405/10 interchange [ ~15 miles :heh:])

I love doing QC/QA-type work. I've worked for Activision testing games (all aspects). I worked at Panasonic Disc Services, testing DVD's. I've worked at a couple legal document company's doing quality control on images, among other things.

I like software testing. It's quite possibly the most fun I've ever had, while getting paid. I'm decent with the tech support stuff (I did tech support for Epson) as well as i fix friends computer's when they can't figure things out

I'll work any hours, but in September I'm going back to school (part time, at night) but if my job was at night, I could easily change them to day classes.

:)

I wish you the best in the hunt, although I think that you won't need luck. Your qualifications and experience make you a valuable asset to any company.

*hint hint* I wish I could find Axcess by Claiborne 's website, so I can find somewhere to buy them...*/hint hint*

Ok, a quick primer:
Final Fantasy VII- Awesome, one of the best games ever made; starred a character named Cloud with a gigantic sword to overcompensate for his small package.

Final Fantasy VIII- God-awful terrible. Some kinda romance story. Couldn't even force myself to buy this one. Starred characters possibly named terribly stupid things, like LoveMuffin or something.

Final Fantasy IX- Not bad. I can't remember what it was about, I just remember it was decent.

Dragon Warrior VII- Great game, until you get to the end and realize that you have to spend the next 10 hours of gameplay leveling your characters up so they can reach the professions they'll need for the end of the game. Stars characters that I believe you get to name yourself. Hence, mine was named Weiner. Much like in real life, my video game Weiner was laughable.

Final Fantasy X- Close competition with FF7 for best game ever. Ridiculously cool story, great graphics, fun little mini-games (including Blitzball, which I played for about 5 hours), and great characters. Enemy you fight is called Sin, which is ironic, because in real life you embrace sin. :)

Final Fantasy X-2 (not 12, X-2)- I actually called the CIA and asked if they could erase my memory of this game. They wouldn't do it.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles- Awesome game...if you're seven years old. Otherwise, terrible. More like a lame version of a Zelda game than FF.

Hope that helps! ;)

Since this is turning into a Final Fantasy thread...I agree with IAHD, FFVII is quite possibly the best game. I'm hoping that the sequel, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will live up to it's predecessor.

Hot damn and I thought that paying $303 for a semester of parking was steep!

Got the job!

They subsidize parking, so it will only be about $2 or $3 a day, which shouldn't be as bad. I will be getting a raise over my previous job, which is also nice. The hours work for me.

Sounds like I'm gonna have a great time.

:heh:
When I left, I walked the 1.5 blocks to my car (which is where everyone parks apparently) got in my car, pulled out of the driveway, turned the radio up as loud as possible to the angriest CD I had, and as I pulled away, I'm sure all the attendents heard the evil scream/music blast from the car.

It felt great. I sang all the way to my g/f job (about 20 minutes). It was such a great release.
