I had given up on getting an interview from a position I had applied to a few weeks ago. The fact that I had not gotten an interview did not really surprise me as I was probably at the lowest level of experience that MAY have been acceptable. Frankly, I figured there was no chance.

Today, I get a call telling me that I need to call that office and speak to a certain person....that they have been trying to reach me for over a week to set up an interview. Given that I had not received any voicemails or missed calls, I found this highly suspect.

I went ahead and called to speak with the person. She informed me that for the past week+ she had been calling and my phone just kept ringing without ever going to a machine. Then we set up the interview.

Whats odd is I have a voicemail service that picks up every call after 4 rings. Its an outside service from the phone company, supposedly taking every call no matter how many people call at once since its not a physical machine. Definitely curious as to what happened there, but the important thing is that I got the interview.

Assuming your service is working correctly, they are either lying or incompetant. Neither bodes well.
If the person actualy did call they either repeatedly misdialed the number or had a wrong number and failed to check it after not getting any response.
You might want to look long and hard at these prospective employers.

Maybe she's dyslexic and was dialing incorrectly? At least you got the interview. Good luck!
