One of the great features of a cell phone is that it stores the last 20 (?) numbers of people who called and the last 20 (?) numbers you called.

Are there any land-line phones that do the same thing? I ned this feature on my home phone.

Your thoughts welcomed.

Not sure on Last Twenty that you called.. but most caller ID's will store a large amount of numbers that called you.. if that helps at all

Any modern caller ID phone does the incoming now. I own two variants of 3-year old Panasonics that both do it. As far as outgoing is concerned I'm not too sure about that. I'm sure if you looked around a bit - major cordless phone makers now being Motorola, Panasonic, Uniden, vtech, etc - you'd find a set that does this.

My VoIP company holds online all calls missed, incoming, and outgoing indefinitely (not sure how long, had the service for nearly a year and they're all stored).

What are you looking for, just simple caller ID?

What are you looking for, just simple caller ID?

I get phone calls from various companies notifying me that they are going to send me something I have won. For various reasons, most often I do not get the name of the person who called, nor their number if I need to call them back if the item does not arrive.

So, what I was looking for was sort of an after the fact ability to call the person (phone number) back. So, I want to be able to look back over a few calls and either hit the call-back feature, or as a minimum be able to write down the number to be able to use it later.

I never thought of caller -id.

I assume that if I don't purchase the caller-id service from my phone company, just having a caller id phone will not have the info?

Actual caller id service, where I would know who was calling in order to decide to answer or not, is not needed by me.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far.

My phones collect the last 50 incoming calls.

Caler ID is an "extra" that you can add on to your phone package. Check what you have and order it if it's not included. Then get a caller ID box or a phone with Caller ID :)

I thought the whole point of caller ID was to avoid those calls. :spock:

You are right if you are talking about the phony sweepstakes schemes and scams.

I win the legit ones....I have won more than 3000 prizes over the past 20 years...I win something every 2 or 3 days....including the a trip to the super bowl 3 times, the baseball all-star game twice, the olympics in Barcelona, three NASCAR races, Las Vegas 6 times, a 61" TV, 8 digital cameras, 6 computers, etc., etc.

I was hoping I could do this without having to pay for caller id.

I think it's like $3 a month

The SBC California website says it is $6.15 a month. Maybe I just should consider it a good investment.

Thanks for all the good feedback.

Don't forget that some of these companies will have unlisted or blocked ID numbers so that your caller ID may show "out of area" for many of these numbers here. So the Caller-ID in this case won't necessarily be a total solution.

BTW, how do you win so many things? My god...

Like almost all endeavors in life, it is a combination of both skill and luck.

That is amazing. Head to the Got Deals forum right now and, please, do share!

No offense, but it's hard to believe that someone savvy enough to win over 3,000 prizes would not have thought of something as basic as Caller ID. JMO... :spock:

The cordless Panasonic KX-TG 5240 keeps a number of incoming calls telephone numbers until you get rid of them. Don't know how many because I usually get rid of them after I've seen the number. But, I've had as many as 5 or 6 in there at times.

Thanks CapGuyOne. I checked online and see that it stores the last 50 calls received. I see some of the phones available via ebay.

Bear in mind about what I said. You will not be able to record all incoming numbers because many corporations will have an out of area or an unlisted number.

Yes, I understand.

I wanted a new phone anyway so I could have a speaker phone, and the ability to store some numbers I use often, such as those for local radio stations that I call in to be the nth caller for a prize.

So, I'll try one of the Panasonic phones with all the super features. There are some good deals on ebay for some open box phones.
