I always had a tremendous amount of respect for Mark Messier. As a New Yorker, he pretty much single-handedly got me interested in hockey with the excitement and electricity he was able to bring to the game.

I'll never forget running into him on the NYC Subway with Eric Lindros, and certainly won't forget being at the game when he surpassed Gordie Howe to move into #2 on the all time points list.

. . . not to mention all the heart attacks I had watching the Rangers v. Devils and Rangers v. Canucks games in 1994. For the month or two that they were in the playoffs, I barely got any homework done.

Time to put him out to the stud farm, where he can mount all the supermodels he wants!

'Tis a sad day... he was one of the quality players left.... interested more in the game then himself and his finances.

If I'm not mistaken, oblong(or perhaps it was somebody else...) knows him?
