Mystery shopping? As in secret shopping? Getting paid to shop and evaluate certain retailers?

I was a mystery guest for Jack in the Box.
It was fun for a bit. But the driving and long evaluations made it boring after a coupel of months, but I wouldn't mind doing it again.

I can only seem to get 1 place here in Wichita. I get them for Bennigan's all the time but can't ever afford to pay & go. heh I did it once in Garden City for an auto parts store and had fun. heh

I do different ones all the times .... the ones below I pay for ....
today i did a grocery shop which was $23 ....I did a McDonald's one which was $14 plus they reimbursed whatever I bought ....I also did a Trader Joe's for an alcohol purchase and I get back $16 for purchasing $4.
I also do others that I do not have to buy anything and usually get paid about $20

Just be sure to be honest and fair on your evaluations. Sometimes somebody's pay or job may ride on what you write. Don't embelish- I know it is usually just a check list of things to look for- just be honest. I think there are websites you can sign up at. Often you do not know exactly who you are going to shop before you get your assignment.

there are sooooo many companies out there right now!! don't ever pay, though .....many companies ask you to pay them a fee BUT don't do it!! If you'd like a list of companies go to ....

Actually I always get to choose which shops I want to do and which I dont ....of course I choose them by checking out what client they are for

Jack in the Box doesn't give you much choice, but they do pay great. $11.75 an hour is what I ened up getting, but no gas comp. It's actually a great gig if you have lots of free time.

I used to work at a Savons, and I swear on the worst night, in a big store, when only one supervisor and I were working because people called in sick or were on lunch break. I swear, a secret shopper came in.
JIB used to have secret shopper go into the gas stations owned by the company and buy gas and beer, but I guess one of the secret shopper got caught DUI coming back from one of those stops, and all I go to do was get free gas. Free gas doesn't sound too shabby about now.

I always had a knack for picking out the secret shopper when my employer used them (and being the person who helped them out). After the secret shopper would leave, I'd tell my supervisor that I thought that customer was the secret shopper -- and sure enough, we'd have a report with my name on it a few days later.
(and they wondered why my store had one of the highest ratings for mystery shops) :)

never did the mystery shopper thing, but a few years ago, i did a stint with the Fair Housing Council where they gave me an identity to memorize and sent me out to various properties around los angeles as a prospective buyer/renter. it was lots of fun, and i got to see some interesting homes, from malibu to venice to long beach.
the only tricky part was when i had to pretend i was employed by a company i knew very little about and the person showing me the property would ask me endless questions. like once, i was supposed to be an animator working for disney, and it just so happened that the agent showing me around was interested in that line of work. i had to BS all kinds of stuff and she still called me later in the week to find out more...

I wish I was a secret shopper. All my evaluations would be paid because I consistently get overlooked.

My buddy does this.....he picks up about an extra hundred bucks a month, plus all the free goodies like food, clothes, etc. He likes it.
