View Full Version : DVD's through the mail - envelope suggestion?

Has anyone here had to send a DVD through the mail before? If you have you might know that the Post Office has a standard envelope to use. I was hoping that someone might have some experience with the process, and might have a suggestion for an alternate envelope? I was thinking that using a printer might be pointless, since it would probably be better to print on labels.

Sorry this is way way way off topic but I didn't know where else to put it

Thanks!

lots of padding. LOTS OF IT. Unless you want whoever you're sending it to get a broken dvd..

I don't know if you really need that much padding, maybe just put the disc in between two cardboard sheets. I've done netflix before, and I've never had any problem with damaged discs, and they use NO padding whatsever. But then again, it's never bad to be safe. If it's something important, I would suggest putting it in a CD/DVD jewel case.

Are you shipping a DVD with the movie case or just a DVD? For a DVD w/ case I always use Priority Flat Rate envelopes for $3.85. I can fit so many different things in them and its always $3.85 for 2-3 day shipping.

hmmm it's been a long while since i've sent anything like this through the mail, but i know they make envelopes that are lined with bubble wrap, and that would work pretty well, whether you're sending the DVD by itself or in its case. like ArkiStan mentioned, the online rental shops don't use any padding whatsoever and those arrive in fine condition.

I just send a CD in one of those plain inner office evelopes to Symantec for rebates when they ask for proof for the upgrade rebate.

Check out Office Depot or Staples....I've even seen them in Wal-Mart (Office Supplies area)

any supply store. staples, office max, office depot ....i'm always buying them for office use/shipping use as well.

I do alot of shipping here at the office and the way I send them is by putting the cd (w/case & w/out case) into a padded envelope that I routinely get from FedEx/UPS then I put it in a box/other envelope which it will ship in ....just because I wouldn't want an "accident" to happen! :)

I have seen envelopes for DVDs or CDs. Check the same areas at the store. :)

Padded envelope with 2 small pieces of carboard or cardstock to protect the disk from scratches.

Works like a charm. :thumb:

Hell.. if AOL can mail disks all day long in just cardstock and shrink wrap... then the solution above should be fine.

I use a padded envelope and ship media mail USPS to save on shipping. I think it's $1.87.

I reuse whatever package aol uses to send me their cd. I just stick a from and a to label on it. They usually ship in a sturdy plastic case.

I went to the dollar store today. They were 3 for $1.

The USPS gets 99 cents for just one.
