For those of you won't don't know: i'm currently living with at least 2 mice and one possible possum/rat. i first discovered them when they ate all of my cheese packets (u know the ones you get when u order pizza). so i told the landlord and she said, oh yeah, they come in during the summer to stay cool.

WTF?! since it ain't paying rent, i don't want it there. however, after i removed all the cheese packets, and cleaned up all the mouse poo, they seemed to stop coming.

fast forward to a few weeks later. i was awakened to russling noises in my kitchen. oh yeah, btw, i live in a studio-ish room so i hear everything. i knew it was a mouse so i went hunting for what they were eating. (i stopped keeping food home b/c of this whole fiasco). Turns out, they somehow smelled an unopened box of chocolates and got into them. In addition, they left a nice pile of poo under my computer desk. i stayed up the rest of the nite cleaning and reorganizing my room/house. but this time, they've managed to stay around. first they were eating the ketchup packets i kept, and then they got into the soy sauce packets. During the last 2 weeks, they've managed to wake me up at around 3am-5am EVERY SINGLE F***ING NITE!!!!! Luckily, i run a afternoon tutoring business so it doesn't hurt as badily.

The landlord feels terrible about it. She's called the pest control. However, all they did was set a trap in my room for 3 days. when i called them to complain and to say that it's not working and that the mice is still scuffling about. They simply moved the trap to behind the drawers. Now they say "let's wait a couple of weeks and see what happens"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :throw:

this is absolutely driving me insane (well, it's either the mice or the lack of sex, but i digress). oh yeah, there's a mouse at my office too.

can't wait to pay rent this month for me and my new roommates!!

Offer to take care of someone's cat for a week. That should take care of them.

I agree cat, then get a dog to eat the cat and then a gorilla to eat the dog, and it will die in the winter frost.

Roniman, this is definitely NOT cool! You may want to get the City or County involved with your landlord to get her to step up the vermin eradication efforts.

In the meantime, I would start investing in tupperware and plastic bins.

:stupid: Talk to your friends. Find out who has a cat that is a good mouser. Then borrow the cat for a night or three.

I have pretty good results with mouse traps using peanut butter on them.

In the meantime buy a few traps of your own and rig them with cheese or peanut butter. You'll have yourself several dead mice in the morning.

umm. why dont you handle it yourself?

if you are squirmish, buy disposable traps, the sticky ones or the neck snappers. set up traps/food in a smallish box (shoebox, etc). you will hear different sounds that night.. throw the whole box out in the morning.

or you could search for all their entrances and try to plug them up. Though, they will just go thru or around it.

The very best way to get rid of mice is explosives, lots of explosives. That has the unfortuinate side effect of eliminating your home, but you have to take the good with the bad.

The second best way a flame thrower... same downside as #1.

Third is the cat, which we dicussed (avoid cats in tall red and white striped hats).

And the fourth best way is (or second best if you don't want to destroy the building) peanut butter on traps.

i would have taken care of it myself, if my landlord didn't offer to take care of it. and since she was calling the "professionals", i figured to let them do the dirty work. it's not so much the squirmish factor as much as the disgusting factor of a dead mouse.

as for the explosives...i saw a "documentary" where there was a guy named elmer, and he was trying to catch a rabbit. it didn't work out too well for him, so i'll hold off on that.

wow. I live with 3 Mice and a Rat.... but that is by choice. Oh and 5 Guinea Pigs and a cat too.

Buy a big ass snake and let it hunt the mice down :) Problem solved ROni BRo
