Vent mode *ON*:
I've been snagging deals on woot and midnight box for cheap, to resell on eBay. But lately there have been so many problems, I dunno about these places.
I just received a message from a buyer of an item from midnight box that was trashed inside the sealed box. One refund coming up. Midnight box policy, 3 day limit on RMAs.
Just received several Sony home theater systems with damaged receivers and speakers from woot. I salvaged 2 systems out of 3 - still waiting on an RMA.
Many people had car subwoofers arrive trashed from woot.
Dang I am tired of getting stiffed! Kicker is, while I can stop buying from these places, I still have stuff to sell! Lot of the items were bought for the Christmas selling/buying season. UGH!!!!!
Okay - Vent mode OFF
Are we having fun yet?

Yeah I ordered some stuff through woot and one of the product was damaged... I think a big shipment got damaged during transit...
Anyway are you the guy who has the highest points in midnightbox.com??

Live and in person. It's due to snagging 5 of several items that were good deals. If I run into much more trouble with the items I buy there, that number won't go up much further. I have a HOT eBay buyer with a trashed Wayfinder V7000 digital compass (the one with the green display) that I am eating. I hope the digital jukebox will work as I've heard of issues with them. I have it out and ready to hook up. Cool remote!
And of course I have the ultimate suck item, a Royal vacuum for my mother on Christmas. Well, on that one I hope it really does suck ;)

These are the issues you get when you try to make a quick buck!

 It's still bogus.....I've been shut out of MB & WOOT because of people buying multiple units of an item to resell.....when all I wanted was one unit for personal use.

Woot limits people to three items. It's not that much of a big deal there. You just have to be ready at 10pm PST(-8). It's expected that a lot of people will resell.

It's STILL bogus......they don't even want the units for themselves....all I ever want is ONE unit for ME

Why not just open the box first and take the slight depreciation of "open box to ensure quality"

That's what I am going to do from now on. I opened the Sony systems and salvaged 2 out of 3, and when possible I'll keep checking items ASAP. Some items can't be checked, others can. IOW is't hard to check a sealed on blister pack MP3 player - but there is nothing wrong with looking inside a box to check for shipping damage.
The kicker is, woot does work with you - midnight box has a 3 day RMA period. Sometimes a person doesn't even open the shipping box by then!
I just had an odd one happen. Bought a Rio Carbon on woot a while back - the 5GB model. Mine came in perfect shape, but like many, has a static problem. Rio has a service bulletin on it, where they offer a plastic washer or extension cable for the headphones for free. You see, the ground of the headphones causes trouble when touching the metal case - and the cheap earbuds don't have a metal plug on them.
So I write Rio as per the instructions on the bulletin. I got a reply today - "my unit is defective and must be returned for replacment". Of course it's out of warranty (30 days on refurbs). Honestly, there is nothing wrong that their freebie fix won't do. What a bunch of jerks! The player is fine, I'll just have to buy a cheap extension cable for the headphones. Adding Rio to my brand of don't buys. Never mind the 3 1.5GB ones I snagged from MB ;)
