Have you been to Julian? They have orchards & stores with fresh-picked apples and pears, plus fruit stands from September through Thanksgiving. Most sell bulk apples and pears, dried fruit, locally made jams, jellies and honey, cider and nuts. It's a bit of a hike from Upland, but nice.

Closer to home for the equivalent experience is Oak Glen. There are nice places to hike as well as shops & restaurants. There's raspberry, apple & pear picking available too.

Here's a link to a site that has ideas for an Inland Empire Day Trip. http://www.laokay.com/Attractions_ie.htm

yes, i have been Julian :) it's a long twisty road getting there. one might get carsick if her brother drives like a maniac on those winding roads. :dead:

i think Airen should pack up a picnic basket of food complete with a nice bottle of champagne/wine and wine glasses and take his gf some place she has never been before where they can have a nice romantic private meal. :D
(don't forget the chocolate covered strawberries)

For a fun activity, check out http://www.dromoone.com/
Fast go-karts, good times. If I remember correctly, it's near Anaheim.

Or you could go see Craig Shoemaker at the Ontario Improv.

I agree with kg's sugestion to head out to Julian, it's very nice.

Have you ever done Knott's Scarry farm? It's worth the visit.

Ever been to the Winchester Mystery house? It's quite a drive (up near San Jose), but if you could find a bed & breakfast near there it might be worthwhile.

Will put julians on top of the list then! The thing about knotts and winchester (and other assorted places) is cost. Two starving students does not equal a lot of spending cash. :(

How about pimping your g/f out on craigslist. That should bring in the much needed cash. Most of the girls seem to go for about $150-400 depending on their talents. ;)

Why don't you take her to Glen Ivy Hot Springs? I know it costs a little bit, but it'll be very worth it. Plus, it's relatively close to you too.

If you do go, try going during the week when it isn't so crowded.

what would you recommend there? (also I have to ask my P.T. about getting a massage, see if it would conflict at all)

I used to work for the Getty 12 years ago. I worked as a research assistant in the Getty Conservation Institute and really loved the fact that I could go through those doors that say, "Museum Staff Only". ;)

Oh and as for Glen Ivy, you don't have to get a massage, though it is quite nice. The different pools they have there with hot mineral water, salt water, and the mud pools were very relaxing. My co-workers here (who goes there a lot) says that the swedish massages they have are fine, but they aren't nearly as 'tough' on you like a shiatsu massage.

One thing - if you want to go play in the mud, make sure you take swimsuits that are older/ok to get stained. The mud has iron red-pigments in it that will definitely bleed into your swimsuits.

In my opinion, the seaweed grotto isn't spectacular - the mud is a lot better for your skin.

You will also notice a lot of foreign accents there too - everytime I have been there there were many europeans there (then again, mudbath/spas are very popular in Europe).
