I've always heard that Taiyo Yuden makes reliable blank media. My media stash has been running low, so I searched the internet for good deals on "Taiyo Yuden" discs. I found 100 CD bundles of plain white (no brand/label) Taiyo Yuden CD-R Media for decent prices. Are these exactly the same as ones that have brand names on them? I'm not too picky about price. I'm all about reliability.

They are good quality and I've had lots of success with them

Yes, they're the same - they just have printable labels on them rather than a logo.

Last week I got Taiyo Yuiden 8x DVD+R media at $12 for a 50-pack (in quantity of 3 packs) from MicroCenter. They are packaged as "WinData" brand, but DVD Identifier IDs them as Taiyo Yuiden (and they burn like them - 16x on my hacked firmware NEC).

Of course, you need to be aware that Taiyo Yuiden is also the most counterfeited brand. But the counterfiet media is usually being sold through shady places.

I've also had good luck with the "GQ" +R 8x media from Fry's - DVD Identifier says they are Sony brand - and my burner also burns them at 16x (8x Ridata will burn at 12x speeds).

I think Meritline carries generic Taiyo Yuden. Maybe not, but worth a look. I have had multiple good experiences with buying from them.

Yup just ordered a 100-pack from meritline! It's not the cheapest stuff, but I know I'm getting the best.
