Set to close escrow on a new house this month and I'm dreading the packing and stuff. The good thing is I can take a few months to move into the new place.

I have been in my current house for 20 years, but prior to that I moved 10 times in 15 years, including one move to Germany and then back. It really is a pain, especially all the address changes. Any, EVERY move resulted in some broken or lost (stolen?) items.

Moving sucks but hey, why not have an GABBQ and we'll help you move.

i love being able to THROW AWAY so much junk.

my parents are lucky: their new house is just up the street and around the corner from where they live.

Oh come on BS, how can you resist a prostitute like IHAD that's willing to work it both ways.

First, thanks for reminding me to change my address with the USPS....I just went to usps.com and submitted an address change with them. I moved last week and it is such a pain in the arse. It was worse than the last few moves I have had. I decided that this is the last time I move myself. Never again. But now the move is done :) and I only have unpacking to do. :(

I have never moved to another home before. I've been living in my house since.. forever! Moving is hard to do, but I also think that unpacking is harder....good luck on that!!

If you are moving locally, or close-by, I've had several friends do that by inviting 10-12 people they know to come over to help...and sort of make a party out of it...they help and then you provide lunch and drinks...you get the move done quickly and they get something for it.
