Do you think Art Garfunkel is a good Halloween costume idea? I am having my annual Halloween party and want to make sure I can follow up on last years costume of Tom Jones. The party will have lots of single women so I don't want to waste a good opportunity with a lame costume. Without a Paul Simon, does the costume still work? Just curious since I still have time to change...

This is what I will be dressed as. Yes, no, or who the hell is Art Garfunkel?

It sucks..Garfunkel was not the ladies man of the duo. He was just the geeky frizzy hair'ed buddy along for the ride..OHHhhh you wen't as Tom Jones? I LOVE him :) ..I'd have to say the Garfunkel costume would probably not be a hit and you'd simply look like a guy with a fro. If you're looking to cash in on the whole single women deal by going as the Chairman of the Board..(Frank!)
or how about Mel Gibson
geez at least pick someone who's cute!
On second note..a really classic Thin Elvis is always good-he was a hottie :)

Unless you're trolling for chicks in the over 40 age bracket they'll have no idea whatsoever who Art Garfunkel even is. Don't bother.

Not trying to be sexy, so editted my original post. It is a gag costume idea in that I normally shave my head bald. If I put an afro wig on, but move it way back of my forehead, almost to the top of my head, I get the receding afro look of Garfunkel. Comedy can work wonders with the ladies. Definitely not trolling, but was just curious for some opinions if it was a good costume.

If I remember right, wasn't Garfunkel on General Hospital as an actor?

:stupid: Why not go with someone who people born after 1975 would know? Unless you're looking for older chicks...and ain't nothing wrong with that!

Glad I asked, could have had another Kojak incident. Now that was a really bad costume idea. "You're who? Kojak? Who's Kojak?" So any suggestions?

Hey now, I'm in that catagory and I don't really want to know who he is. Move on...go as a "bowling ball"!

i think one important detail we're missing is, how old are you, and how old is the crowd you'll be hangin with?

even if the people you'll be with are in the appropriate age range, it'll still be ambiguous as to who you're supposed to be, mainly because there's nothing about art garfunkel's look that is unique or decidedly "art garfunkel." even if you were the spitting image of garfunkel himself, how many people even know exactly what he looks like, and how many would make that connection? i think you'd come off looking more like "generic hippie guy" than "art garfunkel."

props for originality tho. i don't think i've ever in my lifetime known anyone who attempted or even thought of dressing as art garfunkel. :)

I'm 30. The ages will vary because we get between 60-80 people. Probably between 21-35. If our neighbor invites people, she will bring the 35-45 year old crowd, but they are usually young at heart.

Garfunkel is one of those costumes where if you know who he is, then it is a funny costume. If not, which seems to be the majority, then it just looks weird. That was why I was asking. I figured with his drug arrests, that this might be the year.

So I called my buddy and left a message. Going to try and get him to be my sidekick for a Hans & Franz from SNL costume. Hopefully it will be better.:)

Tell the ladies you can substitute the hook for other more "adult" appendages ;)

Sorry bro, didn't mean to disrespect. Classic costume. A little quick on the trigger though. Got to give a brother more than 25 hours before you tell him he sucks...

Amazing how many people have latched onto the whole bald thing. Bowling ball, balding bowler, tootsie pop. Sensing a trend. The thing I like about Halloween is it is the one time in the year where wearing a bad rug isn't frowned upon...
