In case you (like I) missed it, USC beat Notre Dame in a game where SC went up in the last few minutes and then ND scored and was up by 3 and SC apparently was stopped just short of the goal line as time expired.... The ND fans stormed the field and it looked like an upset of the National Champs.
Except..... the ball had been fumbled out of bounds with a couple of seconds left on the clock. SC could have initially gone for the tie, but endend up winning on a Leinart sneak. Amazing game! I missed it because I had to see someone, but my friends called as soon as it happened and berated me for my choice.

BCS ranking should be out soon and I am looking to hopefully a huge game featuring 2 undefeated socal teams...

There were 5 good games. Somewhere on yahoo it had a recount of the 5 plays that changed a game outcome with less then 1 minute left in regulation.
UCLA scored with less then a minute to go to overtime and win. And this after they were down 14 in the 4th quarter. Also a punt was blocked and ran back for a touchdown with a minute or two left. and yeah lots of great games... I still think SC/ ND was the game to watch. SC had a hard drive to get down the field with 6 minutes. ND drives back in 3 minutes. And sc makes play after play to come back. Including a 4th and 8, which the pass goes over the defenders shoulder and into the receivers hands. It was just amazing. And then SC lost. or so we all thought, and then they got 3 seconds with no TO's and go for the win and not the tie.. oh man, i am not a super SC fan but dang it was exciting. I bet it will be on espn classics in like a month.

Um, letting a team come back from 21 points in the 4th is technically much more of a choke.
What happened at South Bend, between 2 teams with great history and National Title aspirations, was definitely the most exciting game in recent history. In fact if Leinart got stopped on the final play, it still would have been amazing.
But no worries. This could be just a prequel for the final game if things go well for both socal schools.

Looks like Notre Dame got the shaft a bit in the BCS rankings (at least from the 'computer').
What a day Saturday was. I just got back from the Iowa game then turned on the tv with ND - USC in HD and then put Michigan - Penn State on to watch both at the same time.
What Michigan did to knock off Penn State at the end was very impressive.
Then my day was almost complete when ND really had USC beat until they squeezed the ~70 yard pass right by the corner. I couldn't believe it. And that last play, I wanted to punch Pete Carroll in the face while he was pretending like they were going to spike the ball when it was completely obvious they were going for it. It looked like Reggie Bush may have given him a bit of a push into the endzone, but regardless, it was one hell of a turn of events in the last couple minutes of both those games.

I watched it. It was an amazing turn of events. The ball game out of his hands and went out of bounds I believe and stopped the clock.
BC won in the final 2 minutes
UCLA won in OT
USC won in the final 5 seconds
Michigan won on the final play of the game
Alabama won on the final play of the game
Wisconsin won in the final 30 seconds
White Sox head to the world series on a missed tag
One of the best weekends in sports that I can remember.

USC was very very fortunate to win that game. If Leinart doesn't fumble on the second to last play then the clock runs out and ND wins. USC had the Luck of the Irish on their side on Saturday.
What is everyones take on USC? Do you think they are more beatable now or do you believe that the comeback just reinforces why they are the champs?

Any team is beatable, but like most everything else in sports, sometimes you just need some luck on your side to get over the hurdle.

SC is very beatable imo.
SC has played very well at times, but not as well as they should. Some of it is because of them losing players and some of it is because Chow isn't there to help make adjustments and mentor Leinart. They are the most talented team college sports, but can only plug up so many positions.
The problem with beating SC (so far) has been the teams resilience. This is and has been a tough and gritty group of players. Over the last 4 seasons there have only been 3 losses, but there has been some very close games that basically came down to 1 or 2 plays. If the offense isn't clicking the defense holds on long enough to win. When the defense starts giving up points, the offense takes over and finds a way to put up more points.
Im hoping that this will be the last close game of the season, but I think UCLA (x-town rivalry) has other plans. Cal will be a beast and a title game against Texas probably wont be like the last 2 bowl games. UCLA worries me the most this year, but I'd like nothing more than to see both teams undefeated going into the last game. Potentially a 1 vs a 3 or 4 (dont see texas losing) in our backyard, for a shot at the title and history.

USC is a great team, no doubt. Heart of a champion. But I think that both VT and Texas are good teams as well, with Texas (IMO) being the best team in college football this season.
With that, I think both VT and UT could take USC. VT has the speed to run with USC (sans Bush). I'd pay a year's salary to see USC chase Vick all over the Rose Bowl...but I don't see UT losing this year, so odds are they're going to be there instead.

I'm obviously a very partial observer, but VT has the athletes on defense to match up with USC. VT kept Bush in check the first game last season until Xavier Adibi left the game with an injury. I think either VT or Texas vs USC would be a very good game. VT and Texas have much better defenses than anyone USC has played thus far this season and both teams have plenty of weapons on offense.

Texas isn't as good as you think. Trust me. Young looks good now, but I don't think he'd hold up against a top defense (and OSU's doesn't count).
Right now, though it pains me to say it, Va. Tech has the inside track. I see USC losing at some point in the regular season, and Texas might even lose two. Hopefully my Hurricanes can derail VT, but they're looking better this year than I've ever seen them play.
And no, that ND-USC game was not the greatest game in college football. There's about 5 games that jump to mind as being better...although any game that Notre Dame loses in gut-wrenching fashion is a-ok in my book!

The end of the USC Notre Dame game had my heart pounding...very exciting.
I was then very surpised when the NASCAR race followed the announcers indciated that NASCAR had delayed the start of the race to accomodate people watching the football game.
Even some of the drivers were watching the game from portable TVs in their pits.

I didn't catch that game cuz I was at the Lousiville vs WVU game and that was the best game that I have seen at Mountaineer field (I've only missed 2 home games in 13+ years). WVU came back from 17 pts down with 8:16 left in the 4th qtr. WVU won 46-44 in triple OT. Did I forget to mention that WVU's starting QB got hurt with 10 minutes left in the game? Their redshirt freshman came in and won it for them. I still cannot believe that we won. It was amazing. :D
