I like the solutions that use boric acid (as long as you can keep it away from pets and/or young children).

Jeez, down here in the south we get those Palmetto bugs that look just like roaches but are the size of your thumb. And when you squish them they smell terrible.

pssst - "palmetto bugs" is just a politically correct name for big cockroaches.
Oh yeah, Florida gets the flying variety, too.
Ugh. I never had to deal with roaches before I moved to Raleigh. Hate them. Windex makes for good roach killing though.
Be careful with the Raid. That ****'ll kill you.

Yeah, cockroaches is another place (in addition to ants) where boric acid can be a good defense.

We have ants everywhere in our bathroom. My little girl likes crawling around and I hate to see her got bitten.

I've been thinking of trying some pheromone-laced roach traps.

I've been having some ant problems myself and I had to turn my room upside down to figure out where they're coming from. Turns out they're popping out from under the carpet in a corner of my room. I've since surrounded that area with baby powder and they seem to stay underneath now...

it masks their scent trails...
buy yourself some Terro spray, and powder, and granules for around the outside perimeter of your house..the spray you can use in the house and it kills almost INSTANTLY..and definately defies the buggars from coming back..spray it in the corners, in cracks, around edges of windows..then lay some of the powder down in those places where ants come in the house..(across outdoor stairs, underneath doors etc..)this is the ONLY stuff I use. ps..if you kill an ant walking, make sure you clean his scent trail with bleach and water or you'll have a dozen more ants there looking for the body.
