i get lax and do it, but today i got caught.

for a few minutes there was a pic on g/a that was not the pic i linked at all.

pwned by hotlinking! :gle:

It's when you do something like
http://SomeDomain.com/SomeImage.jpg surrounded by the IMG /IMG tags
but you don't "own" SomeDomain.com (or have upload permission for your image files), so in essence you are "stealing" their bandwith.

Perhaps... All I can say is he was hotlinking SA and the images turned into hideous things I have successfully suppressed in my long-term memory.

Please, for the love of God, learn the $#$@!&% lesson and DON'T HOTLINK, ok?

no... haven't had that happen when i've hotlinked.

this ended up being a pic of a nekkid woman and some animals, all in cartoon form.

CPUGeek was responsible for introducing most of us old-timers to really frightening grany porn because he hotlinked images from an 'awful' website. They naturally weren't the images he originally hotlinked, but ones that were 'substituted' after the 'awful' administrator saw the hotlinking going on from their site. They even invaded us for a short time and that incident was the record-holder for the most users ever online for a while until the webcrawlers started hitting G|A in force.

Ugh. Freakin lemon party. I've gotten fooled by that one TWICE! My best friend linked me to it, then gave himself a reminder to do it 6 months later, and I clicked on it again. Bastard.

Blah, I do it all the time. Waaaaay to lazy to download then upload to different area. If it is posted in public I just link to it.
