Hello to one and all from the big-ass desert! I've been here for about 2 weeks now and I am loving every minute of it. Only been shot at a couple of times so far, but nothing serious yet... :)
Should be on my way home sometime next week much to my dismay. While some of Iraq really is a poverty striken land, there is some beautiful scenery here. I took some pictures and movies from a Blackhawk yesterday. I'll post them up when I get back to the states.
Baghdad is a hell of a place. So many people from all over the world here... I truly see why it has been deemed the international zone. I was in the US Embassy yesterday... it's based out of one of Saddam's old palaces. The place is absolutely amazing! The decor, architecture and sheer history is incredible.
Anyways, enough ranting... I'll talk to you all when I return!

that does sound cool, pics would be cool. Have a teacher who is a photojournalist as well, who is in iraq taking pictures with the convoy

Hmm...the Google results would suggest Manufacturer Number 1N, but somehow I don't thank that's it. ;)
[edit] I put quotes around "MFR#1N" in my search, and all the meaningful results point to some web site called Got|Apex. :heh:

Back!!!! After some odd 48 hours of flying and waiting in various military and commercial air terminals, I'm finally back home. One hell of a trip and definitely a worthwhile experience. I hope to go back as soon as possible. I'll post the pics and vids up as soon as I get em uploaded. -Ian
