Photo shoot for men's magazine surprises neighbors

Benn Hill came home from work one day last week and found his wife afraid to take their kids outside because of the nearly naked woman being photographed down the street.

According to Hill and some of his neighbors, a camera crew for the men's magazine Maxim was taking pictures of a woman whose attire ranged from a billowing dress to pasties and panties.

Some neighbors called police and tried to take pictures of the photo shoot as evidence. Others told the Creekview-Pier Point Homeowner's Association president. It was the talk of that night's neighborhood meeting. And residents of the University City neighborhood were still fuming afterward.

They sent e-mails -- to the mayor, to City Council members, to Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C.

"I do not need this trash brought to my front door," Hill said in an e-mail to City Councilman John Tabor.

When police arrived, Hill said, officers told the neighbors the camera shoot was legal.

According to a memo sent by city attorneys to some council members, the law states that the photo shoot was legal as long as the person doesn't expose private parts. The neighbor who allowed his property to be used for the photo shoot could not be reached for comment late Wednesday.

The homeowners association president, Johnny White, said he thinks the law should be re-examined. Tabor said he thinks police officers should "err on the side of being conservative every time."

Hill said he just doesn't want his wife to be afraid to take their children outside.

"I've got an almost 3-year-old and a 1-year-old," he said. "We have children. ... What I want is for (him) not to do it again."

I'd love to see a Maxim photo shoot - they always make the women look awesome! (did you see the cover with Nicolette Sheridan? tons of air brushing, but i'm sure creative camera work also came into play!) Actually, I'd love to be in a Maxim photo shoot, but I'd be too afraid of my professional reputation being affected, else I'd send into their Working Girls feature.

I think the mother was over-reacting. Her kids were 1 and 3... they probably wouldn't think anything of a scantily clad woman until their mother made such a big deal of it! A lot of Maxim pictures are just a little bit more risque then what you can see at a beach, so does that mean those parents never take their kids to a beach?

It was impolite of the photographer and magazine, but come'on, it's not like they were shooting a porno or something.

Re-examining the law is perfectly fine, so long as they do so reasonably.
But saying that police officers should "err on the side of being conservative" is not apropriate for a nation not under totalitarian rule. Since when did his sense of propriety become more important than someone else's civil rights?
Admittedly, the neighbor that did not notify his neighbors that this was going to occur was rude. They should have known so that they could make other plans. Then again, judging by the intollerance of his neighbors, that probably wasn't an option.

no need to flaunt it - I can barely cover them with my regular shirts.... mcs always says the cleavage itself without trying is about 2-3 inches long....... and that's with a regular bra no life and other stuff.... sure makes it hard to find those pretty lacy frilly beaded bras though... *sigh*

going back to the original topic... maybe Maxim should've offered shoots of all the housewives as a thank you! The latest trend on a lot of wedding boards is "boudior shots" (sp??), where you get a professional photographer to take sexy nude pics of your for your hubby. With the right lighting, some creative camera work, and photo editing, I think most women could look amazing in pics.

slightly different from glamour shots, in that you can get more risque if you want, but at the same time, the ones I've seen are really classy (Glamour Shots usually seems overdone and tacky to me). I don't know of any studios devoted solely to it. Your wedding photographer may do it, or know someone who does.
