BB season starts tonight and I am feeling pretty good.
Barring injury, the Spurs will take it again and get their 1st repeat. Most people see Miami going and I like Indiana (in the East), but Artest will make or break their season.
The Show will make the playoffs and depending on Kwame and their position, might make to the 2nd round. Kobe for league MVP. Next year the trades start and a Max player then or in 07.
We are ranked 17th in this poll and that seems about right.

Man, that's sweet to get tix to the home opener. Phoenix will truly test what the Lakers are made of although it will be a little easier with the lack of Amare.
I'm going to stay the loyal Kings fan that I am and say that they will GO ALL THE WAY...to the Playoffs. Whether they go further than first round remains to be seen. Oh well, that's being a true sports fan. Here's to hoping...
I also am a fan of KG although I'm not expecting a whole lot from Minnesota. And I LOVE Ron Artest. LOVE that guy!

I'm with you on those two representing their conferences in the Finals. The only thing that can derail the Spurs out West is the Spurs. However, I think Indy would beat them in the Finals. Artest would lock down Ginobli, and Indy got that Lithuanian guy (I'm not even gonna attempt his name) to run point for them.

He is pretty vicious. I remember watching him during the Olympics. He's a solid player. I'd use him over Tinsley.

You should have seen me trying to type his name. It took several attempts before I yelled "Uncle" and just Cut and Pasted.

I don't think anyone could dethrone the Spurs except themselves.
BTW the Lakers will not make the playoffs and will finish below my Clippers.

I hope we're all still posting here in '06, '07 to see how these predictions panned out.
I still don't see the Lakers getting back to the top any time soon. That max player in '07? Just don't see any candidates out there...

Wait, those weren't that great either. :thud:

An NBA player signing a contract means something? Lol.
Max $$$$ + Chance to play for title + Living in L.A. = lots of choices, including KG, JK, AS, LJ & YM. :wavey:

Every few years people say the same thing and every few years we go deep into the playoffs and into the finals. Even you are not so dense as to think that my equation is off. Kobe's attitude would only be a problem with someone who had the same... KG and several other max players would work very well with Kobe and Phil and you know this.

Come on, you know from our previous conversations that I'm in DC and that I follow the Wizards.
I don't have any unrealistic expectations though. I know the Wiz have some shortcomings and won't challenge in the East. The same exact thing can be said about the Lakers; just change "East" to "West".
Lakers have a chance to return to glory when they move Kobe and start from scratch. Until then, they've got no chance.

1. You all can HAVE Jason Kidd. By the time you get him, he'll be hobbling down the court.
2. The only way you're getting Amare is if it turns out he's never going to recover from his injury (which would be tragic, because he's really fun to watch...one of my favorite players).
3. If LeBron leaves, it ain't gonna be to LA. I'd believe that he could end up in NY, but not LA. I think there's a greater chance of him being a Clipper. :)
4. Yao's in Houston to stay. If Van Gundy can't make that team a winner, they don't trade Yao, they ditch JVG.
5. What the hell could the Lakers offer for Garnett? Kwame? :heh:

Hahahaa. Lakers will be waiting a while.
I believe you can take YM and AS off that list. Come next year, you can probably take LJ off that list too.
Actually, as long as Mitch is GM, none will come to town.

From the Sports Guy NBA preview today:
5. Shaun Livingston, American Tragedy In Progress
This could happen only to the Clippers, and I can't say that strongly enough, so I'm saying it again: This could happen only to the Clippers.
Anyway, they draft a teenage prodigy who sees the floor like no rookie since Jason Kidd -- seriously, it's the most important pick in the 21-year history of the L.A. franchise -- and just as he's starting to get crunch-time minutes, in a 10-month span, he breaks his kneecap, injures his shoulder fighting through a pick, then suffers a "stress tension" in his lower back. The kid isn't even 20 yet and he's damaged goods -- it's almost like becoming a Clipper can single-handedly alter your genetic destiny. Imagine if LeBron ended up on the Clippers two years ago? He would be missing two ACLs and a kidney by now.
Sad but accurate. The Clips have had so many solid players come through their doors and leave to blossom elsewhere. Then they draft a franchise player, and he'll have missed over 100 games before his 21st birthday.

THat was a great shot. But I loved it more because he did it in DENVER!!! I hate how the fans there just boo him because he was on trial there. But that's their deal and Kobe showed them his :) Go Lakers

Nice win.
Laker fans got all excited last year after the first game too, when Mihm went :abduct: and had like 28 points (looked for the box score, couldn't find it). They still were a lottery team at the end. Point is, it's a long season. We'll see where they're standing 81 games from now.
At least Kobe hit the shot. He didn't have to take on his frustrations on the local female populice. :faint:

The Clips should do well this year, even with Livingston out. Cassell can keep them afloat. He went off last night, too.
