i've been getting some unfriendly visitors for the past couple weeks who keep digging up my lawn. we installed an automatic motion sensor light but i guess it doesnt scare them away. ive stayed up a couple nights and found that they are mainly racoons and an occasional visit from skunks. is there any form of animal repellent that you guys/girls have found successful? i think they're eating the snails, so we tried using the snail killer pills but i guess they're eating something else now. thanks for your help.

they dig up lawns to get to those tasty snacks called grubs.
you could use a trap that catches them alive and then take them away for release in the forest. my grandfather had luck doing that.

I know putting moth balls in your flowerbed will keep cats out but as for skunks and stuff...have you considered moving:laugh:

I've heard that playing loud, high bass music is a way to encourage skunks to move out if they are squatting under your house. However, playing it in your yard all night might not be welcomed by your neighbors.

Go to a sports store, one that sells hunting products, and purchase an animal trap.
I bought the extra large sized one, cost about $80. Have removed 3 raccoons, a fox, and 2 cats from my property. Works flawlessly.

I've been zapping similar pests (armadillos) recently with only a .22 cal pistol or rifle. Another thing that bothers some nocturnal (and other) animals is bright light. Q-beams or whatever work and are relatively cheap. At least if they don't scamper away you can see them when you shoot them. :) I often carry a Surefire tactical light which has dazzled and repelled many an aggressive dog. It's designed to dazzle and discourage people as well. Yeah, the lithium batteries only last 20 min or so with a bright bulb, but it's a helluva lot of light from a pocket flashlight.
