If you absolutely must sneek into an "empty" QA lab and log onto gay chat rooms/browse gay porn/IM your boyfriends, you probably shouldn't do it on a heavily used remote system. We don't want to log into to remote system and see that.

That's all I'm saying...

 Speaking of, I finally posted all of the stuff from my draft folder, since Lights claims they're public now. Apparently we have wildly different definitions of "public", though.

I used to work at the helpdesk for our computer labs and no one wanted to touch the PCs in the back :thud:

Ok, details...

Beancounter sneaks down to the QA lab, which is sometimes busy and sometimes deserted. It was right before lunch, so it was deserted.
He just moved into the building a couple days ago so he must have walked by it for the first time and mistakenly thought it was always empty.

So he goes into the lab and sits down at the one station where he could do some significant damage. He didn't chose one of the automation stations, no he sits down at the servers. Not realizing that the server that the station was switched to he starts browsing some sites of... ummm.... personal interest. Unfortunately for him a frind of mine was remotely logged into the server. He could see exactly what was happening on his desktop. Since he isn't near the lab he called me. I went to the lab and the guy started pretending he was looking for something.
I asked him what he was doing and he claimed he was from IT and was looking for extra modems.... Never mind the fact we don't use modems. Or that all the equipment in the room belongs to my department, not IT. Did I mention that we work with IT a lot because we have our own equipment and he wasn't a person I recognise from IT.
I told him that my friend was having trouble logging onto the server. The clown claims that he must have knocked a cable loose and checks a nearby PC... He must not have noticed the KVM switch under the monitor and stack of servers right there.
I call my friend and ask if he is having any more problems. Then send the beancounter... errr... IT person on his way.

I wonder if he thinks he got over on me or if he realizes that if I had not pretened to believe him I would have had to call security and he would have been fired over it?

I've worked in IT before. I would have had him fired. Those types are going to f something up eventually if left to do it.

ROFLMAO No, as far as I know, it hasn't gone public yet. Dunno where he is. He up and disappeared. :) He said the 1st but... lol
