(I think this belongs here)

I'm going to Vegas Sunday through the following Monday.

The girl has got a whole plan on things to do and none of them sound fun. I'll be staying at the Venetian Sunday through Thursday, then the Alladin from Thursday night to Monday.

Can anyone suggest something fun (and relatively cheap) to do for nightlife.

I've already planned a visit to my beloved In 'n Out burger. (OK, two visits.) What would you suggest for an out of towner?

(Edit, I saw directions as part of the description and still don't think I got it right. Someone please correct the post so it's in the mod-friendly spot.)

i think this is safe to put into off-topic.

anyways, I guess you gamble recreationally/not much, since you're asking about stuff to do in vegas. =P
What's your budget? shows interest you? and what does she have planned so that we get an idea of what not to suggest?

gotta spend at least one day at the Hard Rock pool, since that's supposed to be the place to be during the day.
there's at least 2-3 clubs that are supposed to be worth hitting. Otherwise, there's in-n-out :-P (only 2 trips? cmon. if i had a week in vegas, i'd go almost every day, if not every day....)

Do Vegas Right (http://www.vegas.com/)

Weather has been really strange this week. Been sunny, cloudy, sunny, cloudy... Supposed to rain on Friday, then clear up and be 75 on the weekend. Good time to drop by.

I'm not really into the club scene (being married and a morning person), so I'm not much help there, but google (and the above link) will yield all sorts of ideas.

Kinda weird to think of In 'n Out as a tourist attraction. Great burgers, yes, but they're all over NV/CA.

Better food/fun at Big Dogs microbreweries and bar/grills. I usually go to the one on Sahara, near the auto dealerships since it's near my school. Drop by Johnny Mac's Irish sportbar (pub?) in east Henderson (near where I live) for the best seasoned french fries ever. :lick:

Geez..that's a long trip for vegas. My wallet and I can't handle more than a couple of days. Everything is so freakin' expensive there now.

Right, but I'm not from NV or CA. Bob and Tom (http://www.bobandtom.com)were complaining about not having In 'N Out on their side of the mississippi last week too.

I can't really afford to spend 300 bucks on shows, but I don't want to spend my evenings clubbing it up. Do any of the hotels sell package entertainment deals for a weekend's worth of fun?

You can drive 45mins past vegas and buy fireworks at an indian reservation and light them all off :) Or you can go to Barbary Coast and see Big Elvis perform. It's a sight like no other.

Interesting articles about Las Vegas recently....Bellagio and other casinos now report that revenue and profits from gaming are no longer the driver...entertainment is...so be prepared for shows that are $100 and up. Also, now that people are coming for the shows, restaurant prices have gone up as well.

As I have previously suggested to others, I would go to the aquarium in Mandalay Bay. Well worth the price of admittance and it will kill at least a few hours. I think its called Shark Reef, but even if my memory of the name is wrong....you wont miss it.

I have had to go to Vegas for week long periods before (accompanying my wife when she had conferences) and it honestly gets really old fast. I happen to like gambling, but I hate lossing money. Hence the reason why I always have a preset limit and typically walk away ok (except last trip which was cursed) but not that much ahead of where I started.

Everyone always thinks I am nuts, but I cannot stomach paying $130 for tickets to a show that runs 2+ times a day, 6 days a week. I enjoyed Blue Man Group when it was at the luxor, but it has since moved to the Venietian (I think). Supposedly they changed the show, but in my opinon the price was well worth the show. Other shows such as the Circ De Solie are supposed to be pretty good.

There are fish tanks all around to see, including the tanks at places such as the Mirage and in the forums of Caesars. Shopping, if that floats your boat can be done at most casinos. Caesars forums and Alladin (soon to be the Planet Hollywood Casino -- The Goddard Gallery is well worth taking the time to peruse) have relatively good shopping areas. There is also the Fashion show mall and Outlet mall, the later being the same as an outlet mall you find everywhere. MGM has their lions in the display. The Mirage has the pay to walk through dolphin encounter and secretl forest.

There is a free auto show at imperial palace that is entertaining to walk through. Amusements about at Stratosphere and NYNY. The pool is the highlight of Hard Rock Hotel.

Day trips to the Dam and other natural wonders can be found without too much looking. If memory serves there is a national park about 1hr north of the city which is supposedly nice to visit.

Other standard things are watching the light show on Freemont street, M&M store, and the many places for picking up or at least looking at women/men in different states of undress.

Hope that helps.

Anyone wanting to get Las Vegas information or deals should go to http://www.insidervlv.com . I got show tickets for the cheapest price that I could find on the Internet, they also have an email newsletter that gave me some good info and free show tickets.

I go to Vegas often. When you go to a casino register at the promotions desk and get a players card. Don't be embarassed to ask for freebies. You can usually get what they call "free tickets" to a comedy show for buying a drink. About $8.00. I highly suggest you spend the money and either see "O" at the Bellagio or "KA" at the MGM (I think there). These are outstanding and I know you'll feel it is money well spent. Blue Man group is also fabulous.

Make sure you go downtown in the evening and see the "Fremont Street Experience", visit the Golden Nugget, and get your Mardi Gras bling goin on! Gambling can be fun there too.

My favorite gambling spots are on the strip; two small casinos. They are Casino Royale and Shea's. My friends and I ALWAYS do well at the Royale. If you like Poker, the "Poker room at the Bellagio" is suppose to be one of the best. I'm not a poker player so I don't know. I did stay 4 nights there and honestly I think it's over-rated and dull. However you must see the water show outside and step into the lobby and view the glass art adorning the ceiling. They also house a Monet exhibit.

I agree, see the aquarium and take a trip to Hoover dam. Make sure you spend the money and take the tour. It's an amazing engineering and structural site to see.

Food? Rio's seafood buffet is very good and I like the buffet at the Bellagio. Lawry's is fabulous for steaks. The Burgandy Room downtown is "Old Vegas" style and elegant inside or for a romatic night make a reservation the Top of the World resaurtant atop the Stratosphere tower.. In n out... YUM!

Anyway, enjoy your visit and make sure you let us know what you did.

VIVA LAS VEGAS BABEY!
