Yep... incredibly, though, not once did he mention race. Weird. T.O. will continue to behave this way until someone actually backhand-slaps his a$$ (like the Eagles did) and really sticks to their guns about it.

Direct quote from the Eagles to T.O., "F us? F YOU."

Next step for Jesse...he will blackmail the Eagles...requiring them to pay money to one of his "charities".

to his credit, he hasn't busted out the race card....yet.

i'm not sure if i agree that they should release him or not. i think they have every right to punish him for the four games. however, jesse is saying that he's missing some of his prime earning years. well...he's still earning. a lot.

but he is missing the opportunity to showcase his skills to get the max when he goes to another team. however, there might be cap implications if the eagles wave him right now. i don't know if this is the case or not though.

He didn't say anything different than what I said in the T.O. thread of this topic...

However they media follows him when he says the same things that the common man says... Why not blame the media this time?

Isn't it just ironic who the media always runs to to get its opinions from? I don't think its a coincidence.

wtf are you talking about? same thing the common man says? yeah. TO really has the backing of the common man. we're all worried about his ability to feed his family. stick it to the man baby.

media follows him? jackson called TO, talked to him about the situation, and released a statement thereby INSERTING himself in the spotlight. you don't have to try very hard to get opinions from someone when they issue a ****ing press release.

the sharpton thread will be posted when he does the same jackson does.

i don't think it's a coincidence either.....that in your haste to support your boy jackson, you do so by slinging accusations w/o a whit of merit.

Oh I forgot... only people who agree with Cheapie are "common men".

Go back and read the T.O. thread I was talkin about... I personally said almost the same thing that Jessie said without looking for "attention". Yeah... the general public (such as yourself) really has their panties in a wad over this... and nobody who says "Well.. maybe it is kinda unfair" is being listened to over all of your ranting and screaming..

Oh well... whatever... It really ain't that important to me... I was just pointing out that Jessie this time didn't say anything that someone else hasn't already said... only that the MEDIA chose to print his words....

And WHY are you bringing color into this... NOBODY has said a word about color... not even Jessie this time.... yet it is naturally assumed on your part. Talk about laying some bait out there to argue a "non point".

Just because Jackson essentially said the SAME thing I said a couple of days ago... there you go saying "I support Jackson and such" (it may be a coincidence, or maybe... just MAYBE we are seeing it from a similar perspective. And I know how that gets you and people who shares your views all "hot under the collar" and such.)... honestly Cheapie, you need to stop going there cause every time you point the finger at me, four point back at you.

what? i DID NOT say anyone that says TO's punishment was too harsh is looking for attention. what's your point? the difference between your statements and jackson's is that you didn't issue a press release in an attempt to bring attention to yourself.

and my ire is directed at you for once again jumping to jackson's defense by being dishonest and stating that he just stated his opinion to people that came asking for it. that's complete and utter nonsense and you'd realize it if you had'nt annointed yourself jackson's public defender.

and the common man comment makes no sense. in fact, the survey from cnn shows that it's YOU that has defined the definition of the common man as being in agreement with your sentiments.

My point was... the MEDIA eats up Jackson's words... end of statement.

If the media didn't listen to him, I'd seriously doubt it would have made the news.

That in it itself is an "end of statement".... Nobody has to defend what Jessie says.... those are his statements and some of them reflect what others have already said.

My IRE at you is that you can't tell the difference between defending Jackson's right to speak and actually having said the same thing in a lesser public venue. Stop trying to make me Jessie's "knight in shining armor"... unless you just LIKE being "the dragon". :heh:

Probably because you don't wanna hear it has something to do as to why you don't understand...

So the media should stop listening to Jesse? He's only one of the (arguably) biggest leaders of the black populice. I'd say there would be a whole bunch of folks (you probably included) who "have their panties in a wad" if the media didn't listen to him.

So which is it? Listen to him or not?

BTW, the CNN poll is an argument killer. The general population is not behind T.O. or Jesse on this one, and it's not even close.

Of course they won't stop listening to Jessie... he sells and as far as the Media is concerned they eat it up (to you and Cheapie's dismay).

Jessie is not MY leader... I don't bow down to him nor do I pay him a special fee to represent me. I don't necessarily agree with EVERYTHING he says but I do agree with some things and in the current issue, he spoke along the lines of how I was thinking (without me using his words as motivation for what I was saying.)

My panties ain't in any wads here over this issue... cause honesty I resolved long ago that it really doesn't matter what many of us say anyways... most of us don't control the system and all we can do is agree or disagree as far as changing it. Therefore, Mr. Jackson has a higher platform that obviously SOMEONE is hearing/listening to and that platform gets much attention... still it doesn't mean that he's always right but that also doesn't mean that he's always wrong. What it means is that he is opinionated and has the opportunity to voice that opinion to a much wider audience.

Honestly, I can speak for myself... I don't need Jessie to "lead" me. But thanks for offering that as your opinion. :D And from my perspective, my boxer briefs are sitting quite alright on the issue...

here's a word of advice df. if you want to be understood, respected, etc...try and limit the use of hyperbole and self-pity.

i.e.: you're wrong because of X. your statement is incorrect because of X. your claim is wrong for X reasons.

but you never do. you make a statement, like your claim that jackson was simply asked his opinion and the forthcoming answer got our collective panties in a wad in spite of it being in line with the common man.

when show that not only was your version of events innacurate, but that the common man's view does not support TO you refused to acknowledge or refute my rebuttal. you instead went to whining mode and set off the smoke screen.

answer me this: did the media seek out jackson to get his opinion or did jackson initiate the process by contacting owens and issuing a press release intended to publicize his views?

does the common man really believe that owens has been mistreated?

if you can't defend your first statements, then why haven't you retracted them or written a rebuttal to my challenge?

and yeah...i'm still discussing this w/you in spite of my earlier comments. :heh:

Cheapie... does Jessie have to ask you first before he makes a press release?

Weren't you the one speaking "Free speech this.. and free speech that..." a few topics ago..

From what I saw... IN THE CAPTION it said that he had talked to T.O. Nowhere else did I see where this was some kind of "media/press attention setup" on Jackson's part. You are basing your entire arguement with me on that one sentence... versus the issue at hand...

You automatically say that Jackson is just seeking attention for himself no matter what he is saying. This time, he speaks out on his thoughts of T.O. and what he thinks is right and wrong about it. He concurs that T.O. said things that could be more "professionally handled" yet he states that the team should not be holding his right to make a living out of spite...

How is this a big problem? Is it a problem just because his voice is heard by the media? Why must you call on me to defend that? He by the same rights of free speech that you touted in previous threads has the right to do so he... and yet you condemn him for it. Did you condemn Ralph Nader as well? /me looks... umm nope. So you are being a hypocrite if you condemn Jackson for it.

All I'm am STILL saying is... if the media wasn't all up Jackson's butt waiting for a sound bite to make a story then this probably wouldn't have even gotten a minor mention... notice they didn't really harp on Nader either (as he only gets a sidebar mention).

So what gives... why are the rules of speech diffferent when Jackson is involved?

BTW.... please stop trying to pick apart my "common man" analogy. I'll explain to you what I meant by it instead of you trying to figure out (wrongly) what I was trying to say. I, as a "common person" (and not representing anyone but myself) made a similar statement than Jackson made... therefore his words are nothing special here. He may have chosen to speak to the media of his opinion, yet, the media was definitely there to listen to him. I bet I could call the media and "release a statement" and they would look at me like "WTF"?

Either way... what is your issue here? You make it seem that Jackson is doing something wrong here or something... and you definitely are looking for a reason to condemn him this time as well as every other time his name comes up.... yet you won't ever see the "counter view" to this. I'm not even asking you to agree with what he says... but you would rather he not be allowed to speak I suppose. And that is hypocritical...

You always want to see a Black and White issue... and this is neither. T.O did wrong... the team did wrong. They don't want him to work for them but yet they dont' want him to work for anyone else either. To me... THAT IS WRONG!!!! You may disagree and that is your right, but hey.. those are our opinions of the issue.

For Press Release on Monday at 8:13AM.

LegendKiller believes that Terrel Owens was too harshely punished.

It is now a well known fact that Garcia is in fact Mr. Happy Meal (ie gay), that Donovan McNabb does in fact suck, that the Eagles do in fact fail at everything they do, and that TO's big fat moronic mouth cannont control itself, but he is the savior of all teams (except his own), for reasons we will state soon enough.

It is also a well known fact that Jesse Jackson just had to help out TO, because you know, he is the guiding light of a moral, just, and harmonious life with everybody around him. He in fact shares many attributes with TO, including attention whoring, dillusions of grandeur, and the feeling that they are the mouthpiece of all of the poor souls who are barely able to keep food on the table, including Latrell Sprewell.

Finally, LegendKiller believes that TO deserved a pay raise. He is, indeed, the best team ruining WR in the NFL. For that fact, he deserves to get paid more by every other team in the NFL because they owe him for making the 49'ers and Eagles disintegrate into lockeroom brawling and embarassing QB smashing tirades.

Thank you, you may go back to your cheerios.

of course not. but he can't act like a moth every time there's a spotlight and avoid having people call him out on it.

and what does free speech have to do with the issue? nobody is suggesting he shouldn't be allowed to speak. but good luck with the strawman.

From what I saw... IN THE CAPTION it said that he had talked to T.O. Nowhere else did I see where this was some kind of "media/press attention setup" on Jackson's part. You are basing your entire arguement with me on that one sentence... versus the issue at hand...

well maybe you should do a little reading on the subject before you start posting. nearly every article on the subject mentions the release jackson put out after calling owens.

You automatically say that Jackson is just seeking attention for himself no matter what he is saying. This time, he speaks out on his thoughts of T.O. and what he thinks is right and wrong about it. He concurs that T.O. said things that could be more "professionally handled" yet he states that the team should not be holding his right to make a living out of spite...

he's a preacher. a political activist. someone who claims to be fighting for racial equality. wtf is he doing getting involved in a contract dispute between a football player and a team? owens has an agent and a union rep fighting on his behalf.

How is this a big problem? Is it a problem just because his voice is heard by the media? Why must you call on me to defend that? lol. call on you to defend it? you've pinned the tin star on yourself buddy. i'm not being a hypocrite because i do think nader was speaking out for attention. of course, nader is the founder of League of Fans. so he's already involved in the industry and has additional motives in addition to wanting to get his name in the paper.

All I'm am STILL saying is... if the media wasn't all up Jackson's butt waiting for a sound bite to make a story then this probably wouldn't have even gotten a minor mention... notice they didn't really harp on Nader either (as he only gets a sidebar mention).

who the heck cares if it got attention. the fact is that once again jackson saw a spotlight and fired up the attn-whore-mobile and inserted himself in it.

So what gives... why are the rules of speech diffferent when Jackson is involved?

again....they aren't. but being guaranteed free speech doesn't mean i don't get to call you retarded when you act like it.

don't wave the free speech banner here. this guy isn't tackling racism, poverty, voter fraud, etc. he's inserted himself into a situation that has no social relevance whatsoever to you or i and wants us to take him seriously, like he's fighting some sort of grave injustice for the good of society.

BTW.... please stop trying to pick apart my "common man" analogy. I'll explain to you what I meant by it instead of you trying to figure out (wrongly) what I was trying to say. how does media's lack of interest in your opinion make his actions any less attn-whorey? connect the dots for me please.

Either way... what is your issue here? i happen to agree with him to a certain extent. but i'm not concerned with the content of his message. he just has no legitimate interest in this situation other than seeing his name on the marquee....again.

You always want to see a Black and White issue... and this is neither. T.O did wrong... the team did wrong. honestly, i don't think Jesse would be coming out to defend a white player like this, would he?

like i implied, he doesn't have to even say it, it's already there.
he came out to defend that one "white lady" who was on the feeding tube didn't he? :heh:

of course not. but he can't act like a moth every time there's a spotlight and avoid having people call him out on it.

and what does free speech have to do with the issue? nobody is suggesting he shouldn't be allowed to speak. but good luck with the strawman.

well maybe you should do a little reading on the subject before you start posting. nearly every article on the subject mentions the release jackson put out after calling owens.

he's a preacher. a political activist. someone who claims to be fighting for racial equality. wtf is he doing getting involved in a contract dispute between a football player and a team? owens has an agent and a union rep fighting on his behalf.

lol. call on you to defend it? you've pinned the tin star on yourself buddy. i'm not being a hypocrite because i do think nader was speaking out for attention. of course, nader is the founder of League of Fans. so he's already involved in the industry and has additional motives in addition to wanting to get his name in the paper.

who the heck cares if it got attention. the fact is that once again jackson saw a spotlight and fired up the attn-whore-mobile and inserted himself in it.

again....they aren't. but being guaranteed free speech doesn't mean i don't get to call you retarded when you act like it.

don't wave the free speech banner here. this guy isn't tackling racism, poverty, voter fraud, etc. he's inserted himself into a situation that has no social relevance whatsoever to you or i and wants us to take him seriously, like he's fighting some sort of grave injustice for the good of society.

how does media's lack of interest in your opinion make his actions any less attn-whorey? connect the dots for me please.

i happen to agree with him to a certain extent. but i'm not concerned with the content of his message. he just has no legitimate interest in this situation other than seeing his name on the marquee....again.

ha! point to one black celebrity that has been ragged on here that you haven't busted out the :2far: on the posters ragging on him.

i think stupid people are stupid regardless of their color. you have a tendancy to give them a pass if they are black. cept omarosa. you thought she was as much of a loser as i did. :heh:

Man I just don't have the energy to respond to all of that... i have thoughts on each point.. but honestly, you make me too tired to even respond.

Whatever mang... go with whatever you think and I'll do the same... sheesh. :2far:

Gahdamnit how predictable is this thread :2far: The same old crap every time. You guys aren't even arguing the point anymore, just old stuff. I don't understand why you guys make such a big deal about Jessie Jackson showing up in cases like this. Guess what everyone? That's what Jackson does. As a powerful and respected person in the Black community, he is expected to come to the aid other folks in the Black community. No matter what Terrel Owens nor his dirtbag agent have to say is going to fall upon any sympathetic ears. And Jessie Jackson's are probably going to have a hard time finding some also, howerver he is stating a point of view that a lot of people share, and putting some power to it. Why? Because as a leader that is what he is supposed to do.

Accept that point, and then simple questions like "why is he there?" will stop getting in the way of the point you are trying to argue. If you can look that far that is :2far:

I doubt that anything can keep this thread from continuing down the tubes. My recommendation would be for the GAM to lock it.
