Following the successful releases of the GeForce 7800 GTX and GT graphics processing units (GPUs) as well as recent introduction of the GeForce 6800 GS, NVIDIA Corp. on Monday unveiled its top-of-the-range GeForce 7800 GTX 512, which promises to become this year’s highest performing gaming solution.

The new GeForce 7800 GTX 512 graphics cards not only come equipped with 512MB of high-speed GDDR3 memory that operates at 1700MHz, but also features visual processing unit working at 550MHz. The new chip is a slightly redesigned version of the GeForce 7800 GTX also known as the G70 graphics chip that is capable of operating at high clock-speeds. Several makers of graphics cards are expected to offer boards with accelerated specifications.

“The large performance gains were accomplished by both raising the clocks and tuning the fabrication process to speed up data paths inside the chip, and by tuning the printed circuit board (PCB) design,” NVIDIA explained.

Naturally, the new part from NVIDIA supports Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0, multi-GPU SLI technology, High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting effects, NVIDIA PureVideo technology, advanced antialiasing algorithms, and much more.

NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512 GPU-based graphics cards are available immediately at major online retailers and from leading add-in card partners such as ASUS, BFG, EVGA, Gainward, MSI, Point of View, and XFX. NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512 GPUs are also powering the fastest gaming systems from some of the world’s leading systems builders including ABS, Alienware, Axcelerate Computers, Biohazard PC, Cyberpower, Falcon Northwest, Hypersonic, iBuyPower, Overdrive PC, PC Club, Polywell, Velocity Micro, Vicious PC, and Voodoo PC.
