Anaheim police officer arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, sexual battery
Bradley Wagner, 58, was relieved of duty last week and taken into custody today.

ANAHEIM – An Anaheim officer on the force for nearly 30 years was arrested today and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, lewd acts and sexual battery of a woman he encountered while on duty, the police chief said.

Bradley Wagner, 58, was taken into custody at the police station this morning and is no longer an employee of the department, Chief John Welter said.

The woman making the allegations notified the department Nov. 11 – within 24 hours of when the alleged attack occurred – and Wagner was relieved of duty while an investigation ensued, Welter said.

He declined to give details.

"I don't want to go into when it occurred, how it occurred, where it occurred, because there is an ongoing investigation," Welter told reporters. "That investigation has led us to believe a crime occurred. We arrested him here at the police department."

Welter declined to give any details about the woman. He said he believes she lives in Anaheim and that the alleged crime occurred there.

"This is a very troubling situation," Welter said. "We're very saddened for the victim."

He said he wanted to recognize and thank her for coming forward, noting that such an event "damages the trust and relationship we built with this community."

"The entire department is concerned with this," he added.

Police know of no other alleged victims, Welter said.

The case will be submitted to the district attorney Monday for a determination of charges to be filed, Welter said.

"If they come up with other charges, time will tell," Welter said.

Though the officer's personnel file is confidential, "I can assure (you) there was nothing in his background to have indicated he would be (involved in) this kind of activity," Welter said.

Yeah, I saw this on news just now. While it sucks, I like how the Anaheim PD is taking care of this.

:thumbdown Just awful, you should be able to trust the police. Prison will be an "eye opening" experience for him. Good luck in the BIG HOUSE!
