Blah blah blah...confused. From what I remember Cingular bought AT&T Wireless and became Cingular. SBC bought AT&T local and long distance phone service. Now or soon Cingular will be called AT&T Wireless and SBC will rename itself to AT&T.

All that Cingular marketing seemed to be wasteful to me but I guess back then AT&T wasn't doing so hot and now the use of AT&T seems more marketable for SBC just in brand recognition.

Man it's going to be confusing for those folks who were with AT&T before the merger and haven't changed their plan and want to upgrade to the new AT&T if they offer different plans than what Cingular offers.

...meanwhile the customer service centers grow worse and worse. :deal:

I just hope that my Dish, DSL, or local phone service doesn't start having "problems" otherwise I'm in for a long and painful phone call. *sigh* All these mergers lately...not good news for consumers when all signs of "competition" are phased out.

Sounds like a waste of money to change the name, yet again. Hopefully the coverage areas don't change.

That's dumb since AT&T wireless service wasn't so good before Cingular bought it.

Cingular wireless is pretty good now but I hate its 2-year contract.
