My girlfriend is vegetarian and heading towards vegan. I am a omnivore but I am eating less and less red meat. Although I am doing that because I love her, I also think that it is healthier to stick to fish and eat more vegetables. Eventually I would like to be eating only fish for meat, maybe eggs and cheese but other than that veggies and other non-meat. We'll see how that works out.

I'm usually a big meat eater, but I haven't eaten meat for 21 days now. I've actually been eating nothing but raw fruits and vegetables. Last week I started eating eggs again, but still no meat and very little dairy.
After three weeks of this experiment, I'm convinced I could never live as a vegan, but probably could do just fine as a vegetarian. After Thanksgiving, we're probably going to try to cut back on our meat consumption. We'll probably have it three to four times a week, rather than 10 to 14 times a week like we were doing...
I hope to eventually get to the point where we don't eat any meat that we don't raise or kill ourselves (lamb, chicken, deer, pheasant, fish, etc.)
i rarely eat meat .....i prefer/love chicken :lick:

Omnivore. Love my veggies, but every once in a while a juicy rib eye fresh off the grill is needed!

the base of all our meals is meat. I start with meat and then add other things to go with it. I do prefer Chicken though.

I can't do that soy, vegatble meat subsitute. I don't like that stuff. My one cousin is a Vegitarian/almost vegan and I try the weird stuff she brings to the family gatherings just to be nice, but man almighty that stuff is nasty.
an ex-coworker was vegan, the only "food" i tasted was a piece of chocolate cake and it taste the same to me

In San Francisco, there is a South African vegan restaurant (I know, only in San Francisco... :) ) where they have a vegan beef substitute that really was convincing (cooked thin like medallions with sauces), and I have had some veggie burgers that in no way resembled beef but were ok in their own right. But other than that, I've yet to encounter any promising beef substiitute out there.

I just had two slices of a veggie pizza for lunch. I am a big meat eater, but I also like veggies just as much if not more. Mostly because there is a bigger variety. I also eat and cook veg only meals too. I've known alot of vegetarians in my life, and i've cooked them dinner before.

Protecting yourself against the inevitable mad cow/avian flu outbreak? No, my reasons mainly have to do with being extremely cheap!
After processing, our chickens end up costing us a total of about $0.45 per pound and lamb is about $1 per pound.

Mmmm, chicken. And you're forgiven for your cheapness. You gotta stretch that money out in that household! :)

o.O wow, that's rather bizarre. especially since all the South Africans I know are BIG meat-lovers!
I'm with nickel, i eat meat, but skipping a day or two doesn't bother me. Though if I go too long w/o red meat (a few months), I'll start craving a big steak.

It's all about moderation. I've yet to see someone who's in the extremes of either spectrum that LOOKED healthy.

I am a vegitarian once removed.
I only eat things that eat vegitables.
I try to limit my red meat intake. I have a hard rule that I never eat more than 16 ounces in one sitting (then I get up for seconds).

for what it's worth, my favorite pizza here (los angeles) is the Veggie II at the Village Pizzeria in Larchmont. it's pesto based (i love pesto), with lots of garlic, mushrooms, spinach, and breaded eggplant, and it's absolutely marvelous... in fact, i just made myself hungry...

I don't really watch what I eat. So I eat meat, Vegetables, fruits, whatever. I've been drinking Naked (http://www.nakedjuice.com/iwant_immunity.php) for breakfast lately though.

I'm a definite omnivore. I eat a lot of vegetables, but I love fish, lamb, chicken, etc. I'm not such a huge fan of beef these days, but when my family was raising our own it was the best. :lick:

Anyhow, I missed this thread over the course of the week, but I love all food, including meat. Me gusta meat.
