Gee, sounds like our Boxing Day last year -- not too many good deals at all.

i'm not getting anything.
i'm just gonna put on some gloves and body armor, head out to the nearest wal-mart at 6am, and start boxing women at the front entrance when the doors open.

I wasn't going to go but I made arrangements with my brothers gf to help her get the 42" plasma TV from Best Buy. Getting a new DVD burner for my new cousin-in-law who also wants a new ladder, mitre saw, gas leaf blower and pressure washer from Home Depot.

Mission accomplished minus the DVD burner. The cordless drill also came with a flashlight but just one battery but for 30 bucks a good deal IMO. The ladder was also great...too bad I only got one.
People were hogging the tickets for the limited TV's and then reselling them for 50 bucks. I think one guy too 5 of the Westinghouse LCD TV and reselling the reserveration coupon for 50.
It was bitter cold...much much colder than last year. I'm going out again to the mall to see what else I can pick up. This will be my last BF...the deals are sucky and Angl2b would rather have an online BF sale at Overstock.com *WINK WINK HINT HINT COUGH COUGH*

Driving into work today I heard on the radio that the local Atlanta area malls were already approaching capacity at 7:45.
As for me, it seems like I had to look really hard to find out what was on offer. So I'm not going to bother. Besides, I'm old now and would much rather spend an extra $5 on something not to have to deal with the zoo.

you are not old. http://porchtalk.com/forums/images/smiles/slap.gif
i think it just that you're wiser and can rationalize that the $5 isn't worth the time/effort.

Well... I got up for "Black Friday" about 4 a.m. this morning and headed to Meijers first (Walmart's offerings pretty much sucked this year...)
There was a line of about 200 people in line for the $25 Schwinn Stingray bikes (I bought DFJ one of those last year for about $130.... DAYUUUM!!!!) and of course they only had about 50 bikes in stock. (Good thing I didn't have to wait in line for that...)
I was there for some specials that they had on a remote control car ($30) for DFJ and a handheld DVD player with 7" screen ($99 - $30 MIR = $69)
After hittin' Miejer's... I headed over to Toys R Us and grabbed the $49.99 PS2 NFS: Most Wanted with the FREE Driving wheel and pedal set for my nephew.
After TRU... I headed out to CompUSA for the Antec Notebook Cooler ($29.99 - $20 MIR = $9.99). And even though they had been open since midnight... there were still 2 of these on the shelf! Oh what luck!!! WOOT!!!!
Next, I headed up to Fry's where they had a Creative Audigy ZS Gamer Soundcard bundled with 5 games ($129.99 - $60 Instant discount - $50 MIR = $19.99!!!) This was probably the best deal of the day. Pretty much Fry's didn't include most of its specials in the Thursday paper, yet ran this in this morning's paper... so most folks probably weren't even aware of these items on sale.
I also got a $67 portable DVD player (with no rebates.. can't beat that deal) and World of Warcraft for $22.
Pretty much I made some nice scores today and I didn't even have to break my neck trying to rush to the later stores. I avoided most of the rush this morning and strategically shopped and got 95% of what I was looking for (Meijers had a Hot Wheels track on sale that they were telling md didn't come in on the BF shipment... so pretty much 6 out of 7 items on my BF list aint bad. WOOT!!!! :D

But that's the thing....
We aren't saving $5 on something... but more like $30 to 100 or more on things to make it worthwhile.
Those 2 portable DVD players I bought were like $150 retail selling for $67 and $69 on BF... saving almost a C-note on each of them is worth the trip in my opinion.
And that Audigy Soundcard was $129.99 selling for $20 on BF... you can't even buy a SoundBlaster Live for $20...so that is an AWESOME deal worth the hassle. :D

I know I saved over 100 dollars on stuff I needed for myself and for my cousin-in-law and was going to get anyways. I wouldn't wake up at 3am for DVD's but high price stuff at low prices I do.
