How do you keep a baby from going out the doggie door? The doggie door is installed on the slider that goes to the backyard patio. The baby is 10 months old and just discovered the door this week.
She made her "prison break" out the doggie door yesterday. :nono:

time to teach the word no. I was instructed to teach that word at the 9 month appointment. Other than blocking it off that is all I can advise.

Thanks BigJon! My previous searches led to small dog and cat doors, not this one for the big dogs. Your link led me to the perfect item.
Large Infrared Electronic Dog Door by Staywell This Electronic Pet Door (Staywell 861) is made for the dog on the go... your dog. It is smart enough to know when you want your dog to go in or out...and smart enough to keep other animals out. And with its infrared technology, it has the range and speed you need to keep your dog from having to wait before it opens.
It lets you control whether your dog is allowed to enter or leave your house. Just set the controls to allow "enter/but don't leave," "leave/but don't enter," "go in/go out," or "locked." A small transmitter fits on your dog's collar, signalling its identity to the door. It's also a great idea if you have an active toddler or baby, because you can let your dog come and go, while your child stays inside.

Now...just hope your kid doesn't get smart enough to leave at the same time as the dog.

or that the kid sit next to the doggie door and calls the dog over so that it opens for them. Kids are really smart.
