On the new mobo I am ordering, it says it supports DDR 400, that is the fastest I can find any board supporting, but I see they sell like DDR433 and DDR500, etc. What would be the point of getting RAM with these speeds? If anyone could clue me in, I would appreciate it. Also, like what set of 4 clock speeds would be very good for a gaming system, like i dont need the best, just really good, like 2-x-x-x? thanks!

If you want to O/C, go with DDR433 or DDR500. Otherwise go with faster DDR400 (2-2-2-5).

what do you do to overclock so that you can utilize faster RAM?

You modify the Front Side Bus speed. Using faster RAM helps you to bump this up more.

Is it for an AMD64 system?

You dont need anything other than Corsair Value 3200 DDR (1 Gig < $80) for AMD64 systems. The performance boost is negligeable and you would better spend that extra cash toward a faster video card or HD imho.

yes this is for an AMD64 system, a gaming rig, what timings do you suggest for the RAM, like i was looking at 2-3-2-5, is that good enough? what voltage would be good? Also, it is Patriot memory, those are the timings they have listed at newegg and their website, will it run at 2-3-2-5 right when i pop it in my new system? Is this statement true for any RAM based on the timings them have listed? Or do i have to do something? thanks!
