NEWPORT, Ky. The dream didn't last long for a couple who won a 65 million dollar Powerball jackpot five years ago.

Virginia Merida has been found dead in her Kentucky home at age 51. Police say her body had been in the home overlooking the Ohio River for days. They haven't determined the cause of death.

Her husband, Mack Metcalf, was 45 when he died in 2003, while living in a replica of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate. His death followed multiple run-ins with the law.

When they won more the jackpot, the couple agreed to split the prize and go their separate ways to fulfill their dreams.

Authorities said a man died of a drug overdose in Merida's home last year. She used part of her winnings to buy a second home, but when she tried to evict the resident, the renter sued. A hearing was scheduled for Wednesday.

Hmm...seems like a string of bad luck. Maybe I should aim for 2nd prize.

I still challenge ANYONE to give me the money so I can definitively prove/disprove this notion. :heh:

(BTW...with enough money, you still can RENT enough happiness to last you quite a long time.)

Guess money didn't buy her happiness.
Money can not buy happiness, but it can rent it.
Looks like she didn't make some very good choices.

I think it depends on the people that win. Certain people will just stay in their same pattern of self destruction.

Not if she has a will (at least in CA) to leave the money for somebody.
