ok...this is what's going on. I'm booting up and after a while (a day or two) after I restart a couple times, I get vertical blue lines all over my screen and my windows goes bye bye. I did a search on Google and it says that you will get that when the memory on your video card is giving up the ghost? But why would that do anything to my windows installation?

Is it giving a power surge and killing my hdd? I just got an RMA from WD so I don't think it could be the hdd.

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/archive/index.php/t-89695.html - This is where I got the comment of fried memory. (At the bottom)

Please help me! :)

Ya, normally when your video card memory goes out, windows is unaffected. It's possibly a north bridge (mobo) issue. Is your mobo sufficiently cooled?

ok...my partitions were dropping before I got this new hdd from WD...so maybe it was my hdd before. but now...no matter how much I restart...I can go into safe mode. But....if I try to boot normally, it will give me those vertical blue lines. Wierd.

Sorry about the other post....I just kinda assumed that it would kill the partitions again. But this time it isn't.

Anyone else have any idea about what is going on?

What are you using for a PSU?

Antec TruPower 430W. Could it be going bad on me? I have had it for around 4 years now...maybe I can boot up in safe mode and use Motherboard monitor to test out my PS.

If you have a multimeter it will be much better for testing the psu.
At 4 years old it can be getting weak. If you have another handy you can swap it out and see if it makes a difference.
