I'm thinking of ordering this. Can anybody tell if these wines are decent? I'd like to bring some bottles to parties this holiday season. I just don't want to get ridiculed for drinking wierd wine. I've checked out the Direct Wines website and many of the wines offered are from reputable, award-winning wineries, so I'm sure they're not bad wine, but I just wanted to make sure, just in case.

here is what i know...
the wine's are pulled from all over the WORLD. so the only people who will be disappointed will be people who love napa/sonoma wines. but you're right... from what i've read, from what i've heard,... and in talking with the people direct, they're one of the top... and that's saying a lot considering how many wine clubs are out there with their crap stuff that's pulled from vineyards that are only a few years old.
the offer on the front page is a KILLER offer. we got our own for got apex and the wine opener is HEFTY. if you look at the picture, the thing towers over the bottles.... so the offer is good for the wine opener alone. the 12 bottles of wine, if you guys don't know, is heavy. the $14.95 shipping is a steal for shipping the 12 bottles AND the hefty wine opener. the wine that came... we're not entirely sure of YET but they don't seem to be too bad. i seriously doubt that there are any two buck chucks in here considering their rep.
the ONLY concern i personally have is how MANY of these wine openers they have left. this offer just got started, and a whole mess of you jumped on it. :) we worked on them to get this offer to you guys... and we're extremely happy that they did indeed give it to us. if you want to order it... get it here (or from our front page)

it looks like their site may be slowing down a bit from the traffic...
if you click through and find it slow, please be patient. :)

that's a lot of wine to drink. i don't think i'd put away a bottle /week. mebbe i'll just get it and cancel my membership or something.
I have to pop a few of those bottles open and try em, just trying to find the time. :) Work less, drink more..
BTW, does that avatar that Lights has freak anyone else out?

I went ahead and got one. Opener will make a good gift basket when coupled with a few of the bottles. I'll save the reds, keep the rest of the whites as gifts (housewarming, etc.) for friends.
Thanks for the deal G/A!

Umm, Apex, you might want to limit it to no more than one a day. ;)

I wanted to jump on this deal but I am never home to accept the shipment and it is not ethical (or maybe illegal) to send it work ... to those that already received the package, what does it look like, is it obvious that the package contains wine bottles?

Just wondering...

i never receieved a confirmation email from them, so i emailed them - i received an email from their support team within a day and i should expect shipment by end of December, which kinda stinks - i was hoping for a Christmastime shipment - but keeping my fingers crossed :)
great deal and some great wines!

It's a brown box with no big label. However, on the top in red writing, it says "authorized wine shipper", and it requires an adult signature.

i'm sure some of you have tried the wines already. wanted some input on the whites. I usually drink reds and i ordered the mix pack. they're shipping in a few weeks, so i have time to change my order. didn't know if i should go for all reds or stick with the mix. btw, anyone not get their opener?

Got it today! All the wine plus the opener in the same box.
Think I'll open the 2004 Icaro - Pinot Grigio to have with dinner tonight. I'm usually a Cab fan, but I think we're having fish tonight.

I canceled this week (they were top notch courteous when I did - no pressure, no nagging). They said the opener will probably arrive in February. No complaints about the wine at about $6.25/bottle, but I don't think I'd be so interested at $11/bottle or so.

My wines came and I cracked open the DJ Syrah and the Carmenere. The carmenere was excellent while the Syrah was good but not the best I've had.
I'll probably cancel but if I can get my hands on that Carmenere without having to join the club, I'd be all over it.

Tried the 2004 Icaro - Pinot Grigio. It was fabulous! More complex and drinkable than Estancia Pinot Grigio.

Wine are all good, but still not receive the opener, I made a call; they told me that I should receive it around Feb 18th. However, they did not ask for my name. So I think that is some generic answer to everyone.

As I opened my second bottle to share with some friends, I did a quick search on the specific name (I think it was Alture) and Carmenere. I found a couple of sites that listed it - seemed to be in the $18-20/bottle range.

Perhaps callerid provided your name and/or state. They seem to ship to different states at different times. Maybe that's how that knew to give you the 2/18 ship date. As for mine, the entire order shipped together.
Tried the Shiraz/Cab/Merlot bottle a couple of nights ago. Pretty tasty.

Just curious, burz - did you get their "autumn" mix, or the "winter" mix? (Their page currently is showing the winter mix.)

Has anybody ordered from the other cheaper deal (https://www.internationalwine.com/wine_club_offer_landing.aspx?promo=DWQAZ3-X06&VendorID=3&CampaignID=1757&SubID=1)? It comes with a smaller opener (which looks less unwieldy) and fewer bottles of wine. I'd be interested in this one.

If you look at the price per bottle (with shipping), that "cheaper" deal comes out to about $9/bottle, but the 12-bottle deal comes out to about $7.50/bottle.

I've had some bottles where the cork must be a little longer or something, so it doesn't pull it all the way out. But nothing I couldn't finish by pulling down a bit on the bottle.
