USC is the team that's gunning for an unprecedented third straight Associated Press national championship. Coach Pete Carroll's club is the one aiming for its second consecutive BCS trophy. The Trojans are the ones protecting their 34-game winning streak.
USC looked every bit the goliath it is in a 66-19 win over UCLA on Saturday.

These Longhorns will perhaps be lauded as the best in school history if they can get one more victory. These Trojans will be hailed as one of the best in college football history with one more victory to cement dynasty status.
Enjoy the month-long buildup. Just don't forget to set your TiVo.

I say USC all the way =)

It will probably be the last team that scores- they are both averaging almost 50 points a game. But USC has been giving up more than Texas. Being from a Big 12 School, I have to go for the Longhorns. This is the best team they have ever had.

Texas = #1 Offense in the Nation Texas = #6 Defense in the Nation

I'm rooting for Texas because I'm from Oklahoma and that's as close as I can get this year in the National Title Picture :)

On the other hand, anyone have some cheap tickets to the Holiday Bowl for Oklahoma vs. Oregon?!?! :)

Being from Texas, I know my longhorns are flakey as hell while USC has stood strong for like 3 years ago. I would like Texas to win but I think it may be USC :)

Speaking of Oklahoma...

This game looks very similar to last year's Championship Game. OU had a high powered offense, just like Texas this year. We all know how last year's game turned out.

Winner: USC, though it won't be the @ss-whuppin' that last year's game was.

I agree the matchup is very similar to last year's. However, USC doesn't have anywhere near the defense they did last year and although they have had some tough games, have not played a defense anywhere near the caliber of Texas. Both teams have the offense to put up 50, but Texas has a defense that could hold USC in the mid 30's. I think UT wins a shootout.

I'm going to have to go with Texas also. If it doesn't happen, I'll actually be surprised after looking at the stats and players.

As for the Oklahoma comment - We had Jason White who is famous for choking in big games. We'll just have to see if Vince Young can keep from doing that.

/me don't really care.... but I guess I'll root for Texas (since USC already has a couple of titles under its belt....)

:agree: with DF, despite my saying that USC would win earlier in the thread.

BTW, who does Reggie Bush play for again? Get that one right and you've got the winner, too...

It's alot tougher to run through people versus running around people. UT will be the first time all season that USC has played against a defense that can actually run with their offense.

As much as I would like to see USC win, I don't think they can beat Texas. USC is a great team, but there have been a couple close games this season. USC's saving grace was their running game.

Where is the "Advertisers and College sports department budgets" option?

I've heard this comment before from VT fans, Oklahoma fans, UCLA fans...the list goes on.

Like I said, I'm pulling for UT. But I'm also bookmarking this post; we'll check back in a few weeks. ;)
