Ok, so I'll be getting a video ipod soon (if not for Christmas, then I'll buy it myself). So what solutions are people using to get video onto them? I'm interested both in converting DVD's, as well as getting TV shows on them.

Finally I can buy some of those seasons on DVD and actually have time to watch them! :)

Anyway, let me know what kind of content you get, or where you get newer TV shows from. (If discussion of this is banned, then GAM can remove this part of the post). Are there any sites that have shows in iPod format right off the bat?

All the info (http://www.cnet.com/4520-7899_1-6377352-1.html) you need to know. :)

Is that the program that you use?

Sorry, no, I don't have a video iPod. I just searched it out for you. :)
You can use Quicktime 7 Pro (like that article states) but that'll cost you $300 to buy vs. that media converter running $30. It's worth a shot at least...you can always try the demo and see if it works. :thumb:

C/Net's good with the info they publish (IME) so that should work for you. Of course if you're converting dvd or tv shows, you'll have to get the files from the source to covert to the .mov format, but...I'm assuming you know how to do that already...?

You can get tv shows through iTunes (but I'm sure you knew that already)...I think all they offer is ABC shows though (unless things have changed since last time I looked). If you have a HTPC and/or are running MCE you should be able to pull the recorded programs off the hd and (conceivably) use that program to convert them...I think MCE puts them in a .dvr format (but could be wrong...I read that somewhere but don't have any firsthand MCE experience).

there is some info on www.ipodlounge.com. Haven't done any of my own videos yet, but I saw they had Knight Rider season one at Itunes; I'm all over that.

:agree:
Yeah, I looked after my 2nd post and noticed that there's shows from other networks on there now. Knight Rider :woohoo:
they've even got some Law & Order and classic Conan O'Brien on there (Triumph at the Star Wars Episode 1 premiere especially)...iTunes video store has grown since last time I checked. :) $2 an ep isn't too bad (most cost that much, except for specials).
