We did this with lifesavers too. It is pretty cool, and crazy. Just stand way back or else you get a soda bath. Oh ya, and watch out for the cap.

I remember seeing something like this in a video debunking the "snap the top of the can to avoid it fizzing over" myth (it showed that snapping the sides of the can is what will actually help). At the end, the guy dropped a roll of peppermint lifesavers into a bottle of soda to create the burst.
