i went to an office Christmas party last night, open bar all night, but i was driving so i kept it on the low.
anyways, it's interesting to observe the actions of drunk people while you are sober.
it is quite amazing to see so many people who have significant others but seem to forget their obligation to them once they are sufficiently boozed up.
there were a few taken guys who propositioned me last night, and i know i could have taken it a step further quite easily.
i just wonder how many people do things they regret the next day or for a lifetime after their office Christmas party. i witnessed some indiscretions like fondling, kissing, and even a couple in the coatroom that i know wouldn't fly if the other party witnessed it.

Heh, I saw my ex (from many moons ago) at my wife's office Christmas party on Friday night. Good thing my wife knows nada about that relationship...:)

Yeah, it happens. Then again, alot happens between folks who work together. Hell, you see them more than you see your spouse. It's bound to happen...:hihi:

Actually, while things sometimes go down at the Christmas parties, I think it's more common at conferences. Get a bunch of people together who know they're only going to be in town a few days and then will likely never see each other again, and magic happens.

Last year one of the "higher ups" in my company drank WAAAYYY too much. She ended up visiting the porcelin god at the restaurant. Then she is ready to go home and trying to find out how she is going to get a taxi. As she is sitting outside, the owner of the company walks out and gives her a hundred dollar bill to pay for her taxi. That is slightly embarassing. We don't get an open bar this year. I guess this restaurant this year is alot nicer, but I also head that 2 years ago it was like this, and half way through he opened the bar.

We always have it in a major club - rented usually until 10 or so, then they let the public in, but give us wrist bands so we can continue with the open bar.

It always gets fun and crazy.

2 years ago, our CEO was ****faced as she gave her speech at the end of the party . . . that was really funny . . .

Same year, when they opened up the club, it turned out to be Boy George's birthday party . . . place was packed with drunk business people and transvestites . . . that was really funny . . .

4 or 5 years ago, the HR assistant vomited on one of my co-workers she was making out with on the dance floor . . . in front of everyone . . . she promptly ran out of the place.

I've had my moments at the parties as well, but nothing too scandalous :shifty:

Will be fun to go this year. I will be fresh off the plane from Germany (literally landing only like 3 hours earlier), so it will probably take me only 2 drinks to be woozy . . . and, I no longer work with these folks . . . well, at least not for the moment . . . may be back with them in a year or two . . . plenty of time for short memories to forget things :)

I tend to avoid my company's parties, about the only people I find that I like hanging out with are the finance people and few of them would be all that much fun, the rest are in Vegas. I'll go out and get toasted with my boss and his boss any other day.

My company make up is more like 90% over 30. I think the gender ratio is evenly split. The singles versus married people are also 90% married. No action potential going on here at all.

alcohol doesn't cause that... it just makes for a good excuse in the morning. it's almost entirely psychological... if an open beer in your hand = i'm relaxing, woooohooooo! ... then you only act that way when drinking, but it ain't the drinking that causes it. i always used to get so annoyed in undergrad/high school when i'd hear girls say "and then i got SOOOO drunk that i made out with/ slept with/ etc..." yeah. like it was something that just happened to them because, oopsie, they accidentally drank too much. as if the alcohol somehow gets them off the hook, intent-wise. i'd just sit there, nod and smile and grit my teeth, thinking, the intent was aaaaallllll you, honey :rolleyes:

i'm really beginning to think that about 80% of people in "committed" relationships... shouldn't be.

I'm surprised people will drink that much at a company party. Even if it's all free you're drinking with people who you're working with AND your managers. There's too much chance you might do something that will get you fired or cause issues with your career.

That's stunning to see how people, considering how careful they are with their careers, would do such a thing.

We dont get a Christmas party this year because someone didnt book a place in time, and now there is nowhere large enough for us. (2,700 peeps)
So now they are just giving us $50 GCs for our cafeteria (which is a rip off anyway)
Oh well. Maybe next year I can get drunk and act the fool!

well, i know i'm solidly in the microscopic minority with this opinion, but i'd even disagree with that... i think the "impairment" that occurs is about 5% of the problem when people go hittin on strange "because" they are drunk. and i mean 5% max, if you're on the verge of alcohol poisoning. i think blaming alcohol is like blaming, say, the object of your affection's pheromone-containing perfume. it's not something that makes your pants fall off. it's a tiny, tiny effect, and the rest is all you, secretly jumping for joy on the inside at having such a wonderful excuse to get dirty :P i think most people could easily control the urges, that their inhibitions are 95% intact, and they just choose not control it and use alcohol as a cover.

I usually limit my self to 1 drink an hour while at company functions. No point in taking the chance that you will embarass yourself at your party and/or get a DUI.

My company's Christmas...errr...Holiday parties are pretty tame but every year I go to my friend's company Christmas party. My friend works for a company that owns a few restaurants in DC and their parties are a blast. Everyone there gets wrecked. As a matter of fact the party is on Sunday and I already told my work that I won't be in until after noon. If I wasn't starting my Christmas vacation on Wed I would take the whole day off. :)
