As I was taking out the trash, I noticed what looked like a bunch of objects that shouldnt be in the trash. At first, I figured that it was all going to be junk that had somehow broken and I was probably looking at a new box with an old version of the thing that was replaced. The thing that caught my eye was a nice air pump, which was a new design that had just hit the market not too long ago. The box and the pump were on top of some folded up card board, and included a receipt from October 05! I looked around a bit more, there was a new lamp, a hard drive (with no noticeable zap points), a thermometer for meat still factory sealed, some leather cases adn what looked like an ipod. I wasnt about to move any of the trash around, but I figured it would be worth my effort to see if that air pump on top worked.

Sure enough, nothing was wrong with it, basically brand new. I figure that either someone broke up and was getting rid of their significant others things, someone gave up the hobby and didnt feel like selling their things, or someone dumped things from a theft there. (which is unlikely in this area)

So for demeaning myself by taking something off of a piece of card board in the dumpster, I got a $40+ air pump.

A new low? It's like shopping at a thrift store...for free. I just draw the line at jumping into dumpsters.

I took the one thing that I knew I could fix in the event it wasnt broken. To get to the ipod it would have required physically climbing in the dumpster and knowing my luck it would have been useless/broken. The hard drive would have also required getting more dirty than I was willing to do. I couldnt tell brand or size from the underside, so why worry.

I also figured that most people tend to keep drives until they are completely obsolete and wouldnt throw out an ipod (if thats what it was, remember I just saw something that looked like the back of an ipod) unless they are useless.

I must echo everyone else here and tell you to GET BACK OVER THERE AND GET THE IPOD/HARD DRIVE/OTHER STUFF! Just think - that could be going into a landfill! You'll be helping your future children and grandchildren! If not for you, do it for them!

You know - "The children! What - about - the - Children?!"
