i was bored with the stuff on tv the other night and called directv to see if they could give me anything for free.
why yes. we can give you showtime and stars free for 3 months. you can cancel then w/o a penalty.

Heh, enjoy. My family just signed up for DirectTV and got the 3 free months - I have yet to see anything good on HBO :P

I just canceled both HBO and Showtime from DTV. We have had it for years, but other then a few original programs that are all gone now (except the Sopranos, which isn't back till March) we never watch it.
Always seems to me that all the movies have been on DVD for months before they show them.

Dude, I'd keep HBO just to watch Rome. But the season doesn't start up for it again till early next year.

Not if you have kids around. Way too much cartoons to keep them occupied for the rest of their childhood. My dad got rid of cable maybe two weeks into the free month that the cable company had when I was in elementary school. Hahaha. Not sure if that was a good move or a bad move.

I wish you could just choose which channels you wanted an pay a low fee for like 5-10 channels. I want stuff like TLC, Discovery, USA, TBS, etc. There are some great shows on there that I only get to see if I download them off the internet.
Too many times I go to a friends and rummage through 200+ channels of boring crap. But of course...that's just my opinion.
