Do you have earthquake insurance and if so how much and what is the deductible?

Earthquake insurance in CA goes through the CEA.

My brother-in-law (in Atascadero) told me that he doesn't carry earthquake insurance because the cost is prohibitive. He just grits his teeth and pays for the repairs.

I don't have earthquake insurance since it costs an arm and a leg.

No quake insurance. I live very near a large dam (but not beneath it). I figure if the ground is stable enought for the govt to put a dam here, then it's stable enough to support my single-story home...

No quake insurance here either. My HOA looked at it, but the premiums were very prohibitive. If we were to get it we'd have to raise the HOA monthly dues by $50 just to cover it. Our other insurance premiums have gone up considerably in the past few years (and we've never had a claim), and since we were not in a liquifaction area we decided against it. People in Torrance should look into it though since there is a big liquifaction zone around the Madrona Marshland area.

I've taken a few preventative measures myself to try and minimize the possible damage due to shaking, including the shoring up of my shear wall area with 1/2" plywood and verifying that my foundation bolts were all in good shape.

I couldn't decide to do it or not so I insured $25K worth of possessions + a bit of rent at a temp place for $101 year or something like that.

Just north of San Diego...decided it was too expensive for the remote chance of losing everything.
