Police said Quentin Wilson, 19, was taken into custody at a Stockbridge, Ga., Waffle House restaurant after 50-year-old Rex Leo became violently ill from the poisonous drink.

Leo was transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition Thursday.

"What did this poison do to his system?" Leo's sister, Linda, said. "It was acid, it ate through his esophagus and they don't know how much more damage. It ate his gums, his tongue. He's on a ventilator right now."

Leo's family said their homeless brother suffers from alcoholism and has been living near the Waffle House for some time.

They added they will push for tougher criminal charges for what happened.

A Waffle House representative said they fired Wilson and another employee who witnessed -- but did not stop the alleged prank.

Police may upgrade charges against Wilson from misdemeanor reckless conduct to more serious felony charges.

A Waffle House restaurant worker in Georgia was arrested on charges of allegedly paying a homeless man $5 to drink a poisonous cocktail of chemical cleaning solution that left him in critical condition, according to police.

That's just not right. Seriously, who would think that's funny? He'll probaby have to eat through a tube from now on, if he even makes it.

If he dies, I seriously hope the consider homocide charges.

Sounds more like involuntary manslaughter to me. That's the charge they gave one of my old neighbors when he forced someone to drink alcohol until they died from poisoning.

What bothers me is that this homeless man has a family that's letting him live on the street.

This guy is probably a big fan of the bumfight video. They pay bums to do idiotic & dangerous things. The guy who originated the video is currently in jail (I forget what for...)

The charge they could use is a federal charge of poisining. I think that has a 20 to life year sentance minimum that goes with it.

I say we throw the guy in jail for a good long time and give the bum the guy's house/car/possessions.

Sometimes you can't do anything. When I was studying psych in college we interviewed several of the homeless people around. We found a few had psychological issues, others were in and out of jail several times so that their family felt hopeless and gave up, yet others just left their family and wouldn't tell.

I even had a highschool classmate who just up and abandoned his life to live on the street. We are talking a 4.0 student and somebody who had a full-ride to any school he chose, yet he wanted to see what the other side of life was like, he did that for 5 years and then came back.

It's sad the moron did that to the guy, he probably just wanted to be left alone.
