I swapped an old nF2 socket A desktop for a Dell Inspirion 2650 even last evening.
The fellow that purchased the laptop new has not used it in about 3yrs.
He said someone told him that the hard drive was gone.
I kept it and checked it out, someone has lost the adapter that goes between the hard drive and the board, therefore allowing the hard drive to not make connection to the pins in the board.
I have ordered this small adapter today.
This thing has 128mb of embedded memory, and one slot whereby additional memory can be added.
Dell tells me that a 256mb stick is the most I can add.
I have looked at the slot and do not see why I could not add a larger amount of memory in that slot.
You guys that have laptops, would you help me out with this?
Could I add a 512mb stick, or maybe a 1gb stick?
I have been told that this is not a bios limitation, but due to the chips on the PCB.
