American Airlines has this lovely thing called special services to help out their handicapped passengers. Obviously, its for coordinating wheelchairs, aid, etc. but also includes being able to but you in certain seats on the plane that you usually cannot get prior to the day of flight. (The exception being if you are an AA elite level such as gold or platinum)
Usually they call me well before the flight to set everything up, so when I hadnt received a call by last Thursday I figured I had better call them to see what was up. When I spoke with them on Thursday, the first woman says that she will transfer me there, but first has to transfer me to another department to answer another question I had. When I asked the second woman to transfer me, she said that I was listed to get a call and it would come shortly. There was no way for her to transfer me there...according to her, although the first woman said differently.
Fast forward until today, where I have less than 24hrs until my flight and still no call. I call back figuring this is highly irregular. The woman I spoke to is looking through everything and suddenly says," Oh, you werent going to get a call. It has you listed as needing assistance between gates but nowhere else, including distances on the plane. Well that doesnt matter, I'll transfer you over right now."
Of course, within a minute I was talking to the right department and they fixed everything for me. I have no idea why 2 people said I was listed for a call and yet, apparently I wasnt. I also find it interesting that 2 people say they can transfer me, but the 1 woman claimed no one could.
Either way, as I said, I found it more funny annoying than anything else. Just thought it was interesting to see how nothing in these corporations is ever as they say it will be.
