this is just great...I've been in the airport for 6 hours now, and I have 23 more hours to go. YAY! anywho, here is the reason why I'm staying 29+ hours in the airport. my brother and I got our tickets to hong kong different times (he paid for his girl friend to go to hongkong). And I didn't decide to go to hong kong untill 3 weeks after he got his. So we couldn't get our flights on the same day (I got mine 29 hours ahead of him =)). Well, since I didn't want to park my car at the airport because of the heafty parking bill, I decided to just suck it up and tag along with whoever was taking welby to the airport and just wait for my flight. so...here I am...in the airport. not even past the security checkpoint. I'm just hanging around the check-in desks =). since I was gonna live in the airport for a day, I thought it would be nice to have internet. WELL, good thing I brought my lappy with me because SFO international airport is a tmobile wifi hotspot!!! anywho...I bit the bullet and paid for a 24 hour pass to use their wifi....this is how I'm writing now. technology kicks so much ass...cept...it's kinda expensive. oh well...I'll prolly write more as hours pass.

yeah...come to think of it, I think no US airport has lockers anymore.
If I were you I'd check into the airport hotel, but since you were too cheap to wait a day and get a taxi or shuttle, I doubt the hotel will happen. But considering you have a 10-16 hour flight to HK, you might want the rest.

It's a safety thing. The TSA removed them from all airports. Many non-US international airports removed them years ago.
At least you've got your wi-fi to keep you occupied.

WOW! Your time isn't worth much? Hope you don't get a stiff back in the airport before you even get on the plane. How far do you live from SFO? Wow. I think the longest I've spent in an airport was maybe 6 or 8 hours and that totally sucked. Don't fall asleep and wake up to find your laptop stolen. :P

well...I have just hit the 14 hour mark of being in the airport. woo hoo!!! well...for the past 14 hours I've -----
*eaten an overprice hamburger
*walked around the whole airport
*browzed every page on the net
*caught up on old emails
*learned how to do some magic tricks
*read half a book on the foreknowledge of God
*watched "walmart - the high cost of low price"
*watched part of "outfoxed"
*and lots of gotapex
I was thinking about hitting the bars...cept...the money issue...OVERPRICED!!!

This is probably the saddest thing I have ever read in my life. You are at SFO? Hell, you could take bart to and from places rather than just sit at the airport.
I also have to wonder if the airport ever closes...i.e. - are you going to be kicked out in a few hours?

naaa...prolly not. I'm pretty sure they're open 24/7
and honestly...if it wern't for lugging my huge bag (and paying for the internet service) I would be on bart right now and roaming the city. they have NO lockers here in SFO international airport. I guess, what I should have done, is go to one of the hotels around and checked in my luggage there. hmmm...should have thought of that sooner.

You should just pay to get into the business lounge. Free snacks and drinks to tide you over till you board.
I must say, I've spent 48 hours straight in the air and in aiports. No fun at all. I can't wait for commercial supersonic/hypersonic flights to be a commonplace boredom. Lord knows being cramped in an airplane with a bunch of stinky fold is no fun.

oh yes...I would utilize the lounge, but the are closed at the moment. I'm a frequent flyer with another airline (but couldn't get the tickets because they were freaking sold out....like last year) anywho...I really enjoy lounges. they have alcohol flowing like milk and honey.

Hahah hopefully you're in the air by now, so have fun in Hong Kong. I don't envy your trip none. I'm flying out to LA from Philly on the 23rd. If I do get snowed in it'll probably happen in Chicago. Luckily I have friends there who are going to have a late lunch with me anyways so I can crash at their if that happens.

this is a silly question but do laptops get internet connections on airplanes while they are in the air?..and yes, I hope your're on your way to HongKong and getting some sleep on the plane. :)

Some airlines are charging like $20 for connection during most of the flgiht except of course the 30 minute periods for landing and takeoff. I think Singapore, Quantas and some others were offering it. I'm not sure which of them do because I've never been on an airline that offered it. But I don't think I'd drop $20 just for an internet connection that won't last me max 12 hours.

why hello all!!! thanks for the safe travel wishes =) After a TOTAL of 46 hours from waiting in the airport and flying in the plane. I'm here! the coolest part would have to be flying in a boeing 777! VERY nice plane. Each seat had their own little screen, with a pretty nice GUI system on there. You get to choose your entertainment ranging from music, movies, and games. the games were pretty nice, they were simple games like solitare, reversi, and bejeweled...so that kept me entertained for a long time =) the reversi had an option to play it multiplayer...that was kinda cool, you could play with other people on the plane. the movie selection was very nice also!! you could choose from a wide range of movies and watch them at your own time! it was nice...just pick the movie, and it show starts at the beginning. it wasn't a movie that was already going and just change the channel, you just pick and it loads! SO nice! I got to watch dukes of hazard, and four brothers. They were ok...I've never seen them before. well...the end result is...I'm here in hong kong. VERY nice weather! yay!!
