Anyone love this movie as much as I do?
No matter how often i see it (every year on tv this time + every now and then), i just love it more and more. good stuff. don't know what about it makes it so good...but... man....
so cheesy, but so good.
I don't know if I like it as much as you, lol, but I must admit I was singing along with the songs tonight.

I wouldn't say love it, but I do enjoy it. There's some great music in that musical.

I find myself singing their songs this time of year even though I didn't see it yet this year.

I was in Saltzburg (where the outside scenes were actually fillmed) and stayed at a Youth Hostel there. They play the movie everyday and you can take a bus tour to see all the sites from the movie. I didn't take the tour. And it is based on a true story. They made their way through the Alps on foot until they got to Switzerland where the stayed during WWII>

I would love to visit Austria and of course all those lovely looking places all over Europe, but damn if they aren't expensive.
I like those old musicals. Safe for the whole family and fun at the same time.

:stupid: Glad to know that I'm not the only one who really likes this movie. I was starting to wonder from those looks people have been giving me while I was skipping in the streets singing "16 going on 17".

my dad LOVES it... every year, whenever it was on, he would force me and my and my brothers to watch it with him. He'd also do the same with Annie, and Wizard of Oz.

Salzburg is definately a beautiful place. I was there 10 years ago (as part of a 5-country Europe tour), and absolutely loved it. I did end up going on the tour.

The creepy thing is that Maria is not much older than Von Trapp's oldest daughter.

all i gotta say is:
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

i had an ex-gf who insisted that i watch it, because i told her i'd never seen it (which was true). she sat me down one night and we attempted to watch it, but i only got through about 45 minutes of it before i fell fast asleep.
i know i shouldn't knock it until i've seen it, but i'm always a little leery of heterosexual males who claim undying love for this movie... :hmm:

I was at the lodge(the one after the FIRST lodge that was destroyed in the storm) but BEFORE it burned down and they built the new one in 1980...not half as luxurious as I hear it is now-but very Austrian like at the time.. and I LOVE the movie..I watched it on Saturday night as a matter of fact!
