View Full Version : Chargers Snap Colts Unbeaten Streak

Like they snapped the Giants home unbeaten streak earlier this year. But they lost to Miami at home? Now they are tied with Pittsburg for the final Wild Card spot and the Steelers hold the tie breaker since they beat the Chargers earlier. LaDanien is injured, but it is not known how bad. They had pressure on Manning all day long. Next week another hard road game at Kansas City. Today's final was 26- 17. They almost let the Colts get back in this thing.

crazy game.

I hope to see Jax lose their next two (with Leftwich gone, the team just isn't as exciting to watch). I'd rather see both Pitt and SD get in.

They deserved to lose it. They played like crap.

Plus SD aren't that bad. I think they're better than their record. They just got very unlucky this year.

Anything can happen in a game! I'll have to watch the highlights, missed the game

Told you guys not to worry about your kicker :-)

What they do need to do is cut down on the penalties and turnovers. They cost them several games.

Heh...

As they saying goes... "Any Given Sunday..." :heh:

Oh well... folks here in Indy are used to this kind of thing. Maybe that's part of the problem. :D

Good game overall. The Colts offense couldn't do anything until the 3rd quarter.

Too bad the Chargers are not going to make the playoffs because of their tough schedule vs. the Steelers easier road.

That's the interesting thing about how the NFL is set-up...you do well one year and the next year watch-out...they give you a really tough schedule...to prove you deserve to be in the "big leagues." :)

I think the NFL is the only one that set up the schedule this way, whoever thought this system up had some nifty thinking.

The schedules are set quite a few years in advance. The only thing that's up in the air scheduling wise, is that each team plays 2 divisional winners from the previous year.

I imagine, while the players are probably upset, Tony Dungy is very happy about this. Now there isn't the distraction of trying to go undefeated and he can now rest his players without all of the questions and be as close to 100% healthy as possible going into the playoffs.

football is the only sport where you don't play the majority of the teams (if not all).

baseball, you play all the teams in your league, and one division from the other league each year.
nba, you play each team from other division (i believe), and all teams in your own.

& hockey too (who really cares about hockey :-P)

football, you only play 15 of the 30 teams. they have to set it up so that you get good quality matchups for tv. what they have to fix are the sunday night and monday night games.

It's actually less than that, because you play each team in your division twice.

As far as fixing Sunday and Monday night, if i'm not mistaken, I believe the Sunday night games next season will be the prime match ups and Monday nights will be equivilent to this years Sunday night games. I think for the first few weeks the Sunday night games will be predetermined, but at some point in the season, the league will have some ability to move prime matchups to a Sunday night timeslot on the fly.

 Great game. The only regret I have is that the stupid 72 Dolphins now have another year to feel smug. I saw Dan Shula on ESPN and he was talking about how proud he is of his 72 team, and how they were toasting diet cokes when the Chargers beat the Colts. It gets annoying that those guys pop up everytime someone gets close to a perfect season.

Just once I would like to hear a reporter tell one of these guys that the NFL was a much softer league back in 72, and therefore a lot easier to have a perfect season. I don't think that's true, but a little humility might be in order for those obnoxious has- beens.

It might be too late for the Chargers though. Unless the Raiders can beat the Broncos, or the Jags or Steelers lose a game they won't make it in. They could be the best team of all time to not make the playoffs.

Go Bolts!

i wanna see JAX lose their games. without Byron, they're not the same team, and not as fun to watch imo. only if SF would've pulled off a miracle.

that team had either the easiest schedule or the second easiest schedule in nfl history.

of course the colts haven't had to face the best yet either for the most part.

i'd say jacksonville (twice), cincinnati, and SD were the only good teams they've played this year.

the teams that scare me the most are denver, 'nati, and mebbe the pats. i don't think the pats are nearly as good of a team but they just seem to have their number.

the colts played terrible yesterday. the fumble, pic, etc. were all uncharacteristic of this team. and ryan diem, the guy that does such an awesome job blocking for peyton, was out for the game.

SD was good. but i wouldn't want to be them if the colts meet them again.

Why can't people just give the Chargers props for kicking the Colts butt! Instead everyone makes excuses for the Colts. The same could be said about the Chargers mistakes. If Drew hadn't been picked off at the colts 20, or if Florence hadn't fumbled an INT return they could've been up by another 6-14pts.

From a die hard Steelers fan: You might have a leg to stand on if the Steelers didn't beat SD in SD. :P

i'm a colts fan. they played poorly. sure SD did well but it wasn't without major mistakes by the colts. mistakes that almost certainly won't happen if they meet again.

Kind of stinks when the Pats are going to make the playoffs as a div champ and a good team like SD probably won't make it. Also, the 'skins have a shot at the playoffs, if they win out, but SD is a waaaaaay better team. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, I just realized while I was looking over the playoffs picture that if these things happen:

1) Steelers win out
2) SD wins out
3) Jags win one and lose one

then the Steelers will be the first 11-5 team in 2 decades to not make the playoffs. So I guess I am rooting for the Jags to either win both or lose both of their final games.
