Well I've had my Nano for a few weeks now, and I'm starting to question whether my bad luck with technology is striking again.

Basically, after being off for more than a day, I have to press Menu + Select to reset the iPod (pressing the Play button to turn it on does nothing). This is no fun especially when I'm listening to one of my nonstop megamix tracks that's encoded in VBR, and thus won't let me scan to the exact spot I want unless I hold the FF button).

Is this normal for the iPods to do this? (I presume it could be some sort of battery saving technique).

Also, if I have the EQ on, is it normal for me to only get around 6-7 hours of battery life? (Apple suggests "Up to 14 hours")

I dunno that it's normal to have to do the reset, but it is normal for the ipod to totally shut down after a day on nonuse. it's saving the battery. But it should still come back on when you hold play or whatever, you just might have to wait for a full boot up.

Holding down the Play button doesn't turn it back on after being left off for a day (I've held it for 10 seconds before).

toggle the hold switch, then try it. I'm not sure why you'd have to constantly run reset, unless it's crashing while going into off mode.

my iPod color (the iPod right before the iPod video) does that. i don't have to hit reset though. I just hit play, and if it won't turn on, I hit menu, and then the Apple logo comes on.
